Important Warnings

  • This medicine can cause very serious side effects, including slow breathing, especially if you have not used strong pain medicines before. If you become unusually sleepy or your breathing becomes slow, remove the patch and seek emergency medical help immediately.
  • This medicine can be life-threatening for children. Keep all patches (used and unused) out of sight and reach of children. If a patch sticks to another person, especially a child, remove it immediately and contact a doctor.
  • Do not expose the patch to direct heat (e.g., heating pads, electric blankets, hot baths, saunas, sunbathing) as this can cause too much medicine to be absorbed, leading to serious harm.
  • Do not drink alcohol or use other sedatives (medicines that make you sleepy) while using this patch, as it can increase the risk of serious breathing problems, extreme drowsiness, and coma.
  • Do not stop using this medicine abruptly. Talk to your doctor first, as sudden stopping can cause withdrawal symptoms.
