How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your dose individually based on your age, weight, health, and the type of surgery or anesthesia.

Method

Your doctor or nurse will give Fentanyl Hameln as an injection into a vein or as an infusion. It is only given in a hospital setting where your breathing can be closely monitored.

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Muscle stiffness (especially in the chest, making breathing difficult)

  • Pain in veins
  • Confusion after surgery
  • Rash
  • Temporary stop in breathing (apnea)

  • Feeling of well-being (euphoria)

  • Blood clots and swelling in veins

  • Severe allergic reaction (with breathing problems or dizziness)

  • Delirium (confusion, restlessness, seeing/hearing things, sleep problems)

  • Developing tolerance to the medicine
  • Drug dependence
  • Balance problems (difficulty standing)
  • Horner's syndrome (drooping eyelid or constricted pupil)
  • Loss of gag reflex or inability to swallow
  • Fluid in the lungs
  • Biliary spasm (cramps in the gallbladder)
  • Unusual sweating
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Withdrawal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anxiety, chills, tremors, sweating)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to fentanyl, morphine-like substances, or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have breathing difficulties, such as asthma or chronic bronchitis.
  • Tell your doctor if you have used antidepressants (MAO inhibitors or other serotonergic medicines) in the last two weeks, as these can cause a severe reaction.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high pressure in your head, a brain or head injury, low blood pressure, reduced blood volume, or a condition called myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness).
  • This medicine can cause dependence and abuse, so it's important to talk to your doctor if you are concerned.

  • Using this medicine with sedatives can increase the risk of drowsiness, severe breathing difficulties, and coma, which can be life-threatening.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery after taking this medicine, as it can impair your reaction time and concentration for a long time. Arrange for someone to drive you home and avoid alcohol.
