How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the exact dose. For Femoston 1/10, take one white tablet daily for the first 14 days, then one grey tablet daily for the next 14 days. For Femoston 2/10, take one brick-red tablet daily for the first 14 days, then one yellow tablet daily for the next 14 days.

Method

Swallow one tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food. Try to take your tablet at the same time each day to keep the medicine level steady in your body and help you remember.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Stomach pain
  • Back pain
  • Breast tenderness or pain
  • Vaginal yeast infection
  • Feeling down or nervous
  • Migraine
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea, vomiting, bloating, or gas
  • Skin rashes, itching, or hives
  • Changes in vaginal bleeding, such as irregular or painful periods, or spotting
  • Pelvic pain
  • Vaginal discharge
  • Feeling weak, tired, or generally unwell
  • Swelling in hands, feet, or ankles
  • Weight gain
RARE
  • Symptoms similar to bladder inflammation
  • Worsening of uterine fibroids (non-cancerous growths in the womb)
  • Allergic reactions with shortness of breath (allergic asthma)
  • Changes in sex drive
  • Blood clots in legs and lungs
  • High blood pressure
  • Problems with blood circulation in the limbs
  • Enlarged and twisted veins (varicose veins)
  • Liver problems, possibly with yellow skin/eyes, weakness, or stomach pain
  • Gallbladder disease
  • Breast swelling
  • Symptoms similar to premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
  • Weight loss
  • Anemia where red blood cells are destroyed (hemolytic anemia)
  • Meningioma (a brain tumor)
  • Changes in the eye surface or problems with contact lenses
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Swelling of the face and neck, which can cause breathing difficulties (angioedema)
  • Purple spots on the skin (vascular purpura)
  • Painful, red lumps on the skin (erythema nodosum)
  • Skin discoloration, especially on the face or neck (chloasma or melasma), which may be permanent
  • Leg cramps

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Femoston if you have ever had breast cancer or any other cancer that grows because of estrogen.
  • Do not use Femoston if you have bleeding from your vagina that a doctor hasn't checked.
  • Do not use Femoston if you have or have had a blood clot in your leg (deep vein thrombosis) or lungs (pulmonary embolism), or if you have a problem with your blood clotting.
  • Stop using Femoston and tell your doctor right away if you get pregnant.
  • Stop using Femoston and tell your doctor right away if you see signs of a blood clot, such as painful swelling or redness in your leg, sudden chest pain, or trouble breathing.

  • Stop using Femoston and tell your doctor right away if your skin or the whites of your eyes turn yellow (jaundice), as this could be a sign of liver problems.
  • Stop using Femoston and tell your doctor right away if you have sudden swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing, which can be signs of a serious allergic reaction.
  • Stop using Femoston and tell your doctor right away if you get a bad headache that feels like a migraine for the first time.
  • Stop using Femoston and tell your doctor right away if your blood pressure increases significantly.
