How to Use

Dosage

Take one tablet orally.

Method

Take the tablet as soon as possible, but no later than 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. You can take it at any time during your menstrual cycle, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one tablet, taken as a single dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling sick, stomach pain, or vomiting.
  • Painful periods, pelvic pain, or tender breasts.
  • Headache, dizziness, or mood changes.
  • Muscle pain, back pain, or tiredness.
RARE
  • Diarrhoea, heartburn, bloating, or dry mouth.
  • Unusual or irregular vaginal bleeding, heavy/long periods, vaginal irritation or discharge, or changes in sex drive.
  • Hot flashes.
  • Changes in appetite, emotional issues, anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, drowsiness, migraines, or vision problems.
  • Flu-like symptoms.
  • Acne, skin problems, or itching.
  • Fever, chills, or generally feeling unwell.
  • Genital pain or itching, pain during sex, ovarian cyst rupture, or unusually light periods.
  • Trouble concentrating, severe dizziness (vertigo), tremors, confusion, or fainting.
  • Unusual eye sensation, red eyes, or sensitivity to light.
  • Dry throat or changes in taste.
  • Allergic reactions like rash, hives (itchy rash), or facial swelling.
  • Feeling thirsty.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ulipristal acetate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Talk to a doctor before taking if your period is late or you have pregnancy symptoms, as you might already be pregnant.
  • Talk to a doctor before taking if you have severe asthma.
  • Talk to a doctor before taking if you have severe liver disease.
  • Femke is not a regular birth control method; it's for emergencies only.

  • This medicine does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
  • Do not take Femke with another emergency contraceptive pill containing levonorgestrel.
  • Some medicines (for epilepsy, tuberculosis, HIV, fungal infections, or St. John's Wort) may make Femke less effective.
  • If you vomit within 3 hours of taking the tablet, you must take another tablet as soon as possible.
  • Unprotected sex after taking Femke will not prevent pregnancy; use condoms until your next period.
  • If your period is more than 7 days late, unusual, or you have pregnancy symptoms, take a pregnancy test immediately.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness or blurred vision, so do not drive or use machines if you feel these effects.
  • Do not breastfeed for one week after taking this medicine.
