Felodipin ratiopharm lowers blood pressure by widening small blood vessels and is used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain (angina pectoris).

How to Use

Dosage

For high blood pressure or angina, the usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily, adjusted by your doctor up to 10 mg or lowered to 2.5 mg for elderly patients.

Method

Take once a day in the morning with water. Do not split, crush, or chew the tablet. You can take it with or without a light, low-fat, low-carbohydrate meal.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 10 mg.

Possible Side Effects

  • Swollen ankles
  • Headache
  • Facial flushing (redness and warmth)

  • Unusually fast heart rate
  • Palpitations (feeling your heart beat)
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Burning or tingling sensation, numbness
  • Rash or itching
  • Tiredness
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
  • Vomiting
  • Hives
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Impotence or other sexual dysfunction
  • Gum inflammation (swollen gums)
  • Increased liver enzyme values
  • Skin reactions due to increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • Inflammation of small blood vessels in the skin
  • Frequent urination
  • Hypersensitivity reaction, such as fever or swelling of lips and tongue

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are pregnant. Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to felodipine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have untreated heart failure.
  • Do not use if you have recently had a heart attack.
  • Do not use if you have recently experienced chest pain lasting over 15 minutes or that is worse than usual.

  • Talk to your doctor before use if you have liver problems.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can increase side effects.

Category A
