How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 5 mg once a day, or 2.5 mg for older patients. Your doctor might adjust it to 5-10 mg daily.

Method

Take in the morning with water. Do not cut, crush, or chew the tablet. You can take it with or without a light, low-fat meal.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 10 mg once a day.

Possible Side Effects

  • Swollen ankles
  • Headache
  • Redness and warmth in the face
RARE
  • Unusually fast heart rate
  • Heart palpitations
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Nausea
  • Stomach pain
  • Burning, tingling, or numbness sensation
  • Skin rash or itching
  • Tiredness
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
  • Vomiting
  • Hives (itchy rash)
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Erectile dysfunction or other sexual problems
  • Swollen gums (gingivitis)
  • Higher liver enzyme levels (seen in blood tests)
  • Skin reactions from increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • Inflammation of small blood vessels in the skin
  • Frequent need to urinate
  • Allergic reactions like fever or swelling of the lips and tongue

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to felodipine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have untreated heart failure, a recent heart attack, or severe, long-lasting chest pain.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have liver problems or a heart valve or muscle disease.
  • Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can increase side effects.

  • This medicine can cause swollen gums; make sure to brush your teeth well to prevent this.
  • If you experience very low blood pressure (dizziness, chest pain), seek emergency medical help right away.

Category A
