How to Use

Dosage

For high blood pressure or chest pain, the usual starting dose is 5 mg once a day. Your doctor may increase this up to 10 mg daily. Elderly patients might start with 2.5 mg daily.

Method

Take the tablet whole with water in the morning. Do not divide, crush, or chew it. You can take it on an empty stomach or with a light meal low in fat and carbohydrates.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 10 mg once a day.

  • Facial flushing (redness in the face)
RARE
  • Unusually fast heartbeat or palpitations (feeling your heart beat strongly)
  • Very low blood pressure
  • Feeling sick (nausea) or stomach pain
  • Tingling, prickling, or numbness
  • Rash or itching
  • Tiredness
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
  • Vomiting
  • Hives (itchy rash on the skin)
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Problems with sex (like impotence)
  • Swollen gums
  • Changes in liver blood test results
  • Skin reactions from increased sun sensitivity
  • Inflammation of small blood vessels in the skin
  • Frequent urge to urinate
  • Allergic reactions (such as fever or swelling of the lips and tongue)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant. Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to felodipine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have untreated heart failure, recently had a heart attack, or have new or worsening chest pain (angina pectoris lasting 15 minutes or more, or more severe than usual).
  • Do not take if you have a heart valve or heart muscle disease, unless you have discussed it with your doctor.
  • This medicine can sometimes lower your blood pressure too much, causing dizziness or chest pain. If this happens, seek immediate medical help.

  • Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can increase the effects and side effects.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have liver problems.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or use machines, especially at the start of treatment, if you feel dizzy, tired, or have a headache.
