How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 250–1500 mg per day.

Method

Large daily doses can be split into 2 or 3 parts. You can take the medicine with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 1500 mg.

  • Blood clot in the lung (pulmonary embolism)
  • Increased body hair
  • Swelling of the face or throat (angioedema)
  • Milk discharge from breasts
  • Cushing's syndrome-like symptoms (e.g., weight gain, rounded face) (during cancer treatment)
  • Worsening diabetes
  • High blood calcium levels
  • Feeling of extreme well-being (euphoria)
  • Heart failure
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Inflammation of superficial veins
  • Diarrhea
  • Dry mouth
  • Stroke (during cancer treatment)
  • Drowsiness (during cancer treatment)
  • Heart attack (during cancer treatment)
  • Blood clot or deep vein thrombosis (during cancer treatment)
  • Jaundice
  • Rash
  • General feeling of unwellness
  • Reduced glucose tolerance (high blood sugar)
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Delayed ovulation
  • Absent menstruation
  • Superficial cervical lesions
  • Confusion (during cancer treatment)
  • Adrenergic symptoms (e.g., fine hand tremors, sweating, night leg cramps) (during cancer treatment)
  • Lack of concentration
  • Retinal artery or vein blockage
  • Diabetic cataract
  • Worsening vision
  • Glucose in urine
  • Increased white blood cells or platelets
  • Benign brain tumor (meningioma)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Farlutal if you are allergic to this medicine or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not use Farlutal if you have or have had blood clots or serious heart or circulation problems.
  • Do not use Farlutal if you have vaginal bleeding that you don't know the cause of.
  • Do not use Farlutal if you have severe liver disease, breast cancer, suspected breast cancer, or too much calcium in your blood.
  • Do not use Farlutal if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or have recently had a threatened miscarriage.

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience sudden vision problems, migraine, heart symptoms, or signs of a stroke (like numbness or trouble speaking).
  • Talk to your doctor before using Farlutal if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, depression, obesity, or a history of blood clots or liver conditions.
  • Long-term use of Farlutal may increase the risk of benign brain tumors (meningiomas). If this is diagnosed, your doctor will re-evaluate your treatment.
