How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 3 tablets once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole. Fareston can be taken with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 3 tablets in one day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Hot flushes, sweating
  • Fatigue, dizziness, depression
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Rash, itching, swelling
  • Uterine bleeding, vaginal discharge
RARE
  • Headache, difficulty sleeping
  • Weight gain, constipation, loss of appetite
  • Thickening of the uterine lining
  • Blood clots, for example in the lungs
  • Shortness of breath
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Uterine polyps (growths in the lining of the womb)
  • Increased liver enzyme levels
  • Changes in uterine lining, uterine cancer
  • Hair loss
  • Temporary clouding of the cornea (part of the eye)
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Low red blood cell count
  • Low platelet count
  • Liver inflammation
  • High triglyceride levels (a type of fat in the blood)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to toremifene or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have an overgrowth of the uterine lining (endometrial hyperplasia).
  • Do not take if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not take if you have a heart condition that affects your heart's electrical activity (long QT syndrome).
  • Do not take if you have an electrolyte imbalance, especially low potassium, that is not treated.

  • Do not take if your heart beats very slowly.
  • Do not take if you have heart failure.
  • Do not take if you have a known heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia).
  • Do not take if you are using other medicines that can affect heart function.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had blood clots, for example in your lungs or legs.
  • Tell your doctor if you have uncontrolled diabetes.
  • Tell your doctor if your general health is poor.
  • You must have a gynecological examination before starting Fareston and at least once a year during treatment.
  • Do not take Fareston during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
