How to Use

Dosage

Take one 10 mg Ezetrol tablet once daily.

Method

You can take this medicine at any time of day, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one 10 mg Ezetrol tablet per day.

  • Increased muscle enzyme levels in blood tests
  • Cough
  • Indigestion or heartburn
  • Nausea
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle cramps
  • Neck pain
  • Decreased appetite
  • General pain
  • Chest pain
  • Hot flashes
  • High blood pressure
  • Tingling sensation
  • Dry mouth
  • Itching
  • Rash or hives
  • Back pain
  • Muscle weakness (general)
  • Pain in arms and legs
  • Unusual tiredness or weakness (general)
  • Swelling, especially in hands and feet
  • Dizziness
  • Severe muscle pain or muscle breakdown
  • Liver problems (more than just changes in blood tests)
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat causing trouble breathing or swallowing)
  • Red target-like skin rashes (erythema multiforme)
  • Gallstones or gallbladder inflammation (can cause abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting)
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas, often with severe abdominal pain)
  • Constipation
  • Decreased blood cells (which can cause bruising or bleeding)
  • Depression
  • Shortness of breath

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Ezetrol if you are allergic to ezetimibe or any other part of this medicine.
  • If you have liver disease, do not take Ezetrol together with a statin.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding, do not use Ezetrol with a statin.
  • See a doctor right away if you get unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness. These muscle problems can be serious and life-threatening.
  • Ezetrol should not be given to children under 6 years. For children 6-17 years old, it should only be prescribed by a specialist doctor.

  • Your doctor will do blood tests to check your liver function before and possibly after you start Ezetrol with a statin.
  • Ezetrol is not recommended if you have moderate to severe liver disease.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. The effectiveness of the drug alone without statin is modest. (updated 15.5.2023)
