How to Use

Dosage

The typical dose is one tablet once daily.

Method

Take the tablet whole, with or without food, at any time of day. Do not split the tablet.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one tablet, as prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea
  • Muscle pain
RARE
  • Flu-like symptoms (e.g., body aches, fever, chills)
  • Depression, difficulty sleeping, sleep problems, nightmares
  • Dizziness, headache, tingling, numbness or prickling in fingers and toes, decreased sensation, memory loss, changes in taste, dry mouth, ringing in ears and/or head, hearing loss, blurred vision, vision disturbances
  • Slow heart rate, hot flashes, high blood pressure, decreased red/white blood cells (may cause bruising/bleeding)
  • Shortness of breath, cough, persistent cough, nasal passage inflammation, nosebleeds, sore throat
  • Abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, indigestion, gas, frequent bowel movements, stomach inflammation, nausea, vomiting, belching, gallstones or gallbladder inflammation (with abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting), pancreatitis (with severe abdominal pain), heartburn, decreased or loss of appetite
  • Acne, hives, rash and itching, raised red rashes (sometimes target-shaped), severe peeling and swelling of skin, blisters on skin/mouth/eyes/genitals, hair loss
  • Joint pain, back pain, leg cramps, muscle fatigue, muscle spasms or weakness, pain in arms and legs, tendon injury, myasthenia (general or eye muscle weakness), persistent muscle pain, tenderness or weakness (especially with fever/feeling unwell)
  • Unusual weakness, feeling tired or unwell, swelling (especially in ankles), weight gain, fever
  • Diabetes (more likely with high blood sugar/fats, overweight, high blood pressure; doctor will monitor)
  • Lupus-like syndrome (skin rash, joint problems, blood effects)
  • Gynecomastia (breast enlargement in men)
  • Sexual difficulties
  • Positive white blood cell test in urine
  • Increase in certain blood values (CK, liver function, blood sugar)
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of face, tongue, throat, difficulty breathing) and severe skin reactions (e.g., severe peeling and swelling of skin, blisters, fever) which require immediate medical attention.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ezetimibe, atorvastatin, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have or have ever had liver disease, or if you have had unusual liver function blood test results.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, breastfeeding, or are a woman of childbearing age not using reliable contraception.
  • Do not take if you are using glecaprevir/pibrentasvir to treat hepatitis C.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, or if you have myasthenia (a condition causing muscle weakness), as this can be serious.

  • If you are taking fusidic acid (for bacterial infections), you must temporarily stop this medicine. Your doctor will advise when it's safe to restart.
  • Avoid large amounts of grapefruit juice (more than 1-2 small glasses per day) and excessive alcohol.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents.
  • If you have an intolerance to certain sugars (like lactose), talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
