How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 10 mg once a day, but your doctor will tell you your exact dose.

Method

Take the tablet once a day, around the same time, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not chew or crush it.

Important

No more than 10 mg once a day, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fever, chills (signs of infection)
  • Fever, cough, difficulty breathing, wheezing (signs of lung inflammation)
  • Tiredness, shortness of breath, dizziness, pale skin, low red blood cells (anemia)
  • High blood sugar
  • Loss of appetite
  • High blood fats (cholesterol)
  • Taste changes, headache
  • Nosebleeds
  • Cough
  • Mouth sores
  • Stomach problems, including nausea or diarrhea
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Swelling in arms, hands, feet, ankles, or other body parts (edema)
  • Weight loss
  • Easy bleeding or bruising (low platelets)
  • Fever, sore throat, mouth sores due to infection (low white blood cells)
  • Swelling due to fluid buildup (lymphedema), usually in arms or legs
  • Shortness of breath
  • Thirst, low urine output, dark urine, dry red skin, irritability (signs of dehydration)
  • Trouble sleeping (insomnia)
  • Headache, dizziness (signs of high blood pressure)
  • Inflammation in mouth, stomach or intestines
  • Dry mouth
  • Heartburn
  • Nausea (vomiting)
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Abdominal pain
  • Acne
  • Rash and pain in palms or soles of feet (hand-foot syndrome)
  • Redness of skin
  • Joint pain

  • Low potassium in blood
  • Low phosphate in blood

  • Dry skin, peeling skin, skin damage
  • Nail problems, broken nails
  • Mild hair loss
  • Abnormal liver test results
  • Abnormal kidney test results (increased creatinine)
  • Eyelid swelling
  • Protein in urine
RARE
  • Fever, rash, joint pain and inflammation, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea, yellow skin (jaundice), pain in upper right abdomen, pale stools, dark urine (signs of reactivated hepatitis B)
  • Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing when lying down, swollen feet or legs (signs of heart failure)
  • Swelling and/or pain in one leg, often in the calf, redness or warm skin in the affected area (signs of a blood clot in a leg vein)
  • Sudden breathing difficulties, chest pain, coughing up blood (possible signs of a lung embolism)
  • Significantly reduced urine output, leg swelling, confusion, back pain (signs of sudden kidney failure)
  • Rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing or swallowing, dizziness (signs of severe allergic reaction)
  • Weakness, spontaneous bleeding or bruising, frequent infections with symptoms like fever, chills, sore throat or mouth sores (low levels of certain blood cells, pancytopenia)
  • Loss of taste
  • Coughing up blood
  • Menstrual problems, such as missed periods
  • Urinating more often during the day
  • Chest pain
  • Abnormal wound healing
  • Hot flashes
  • Watery, itchy, red eyes (conjunctivitis)
  • Shortness of breath or fast breathing (acute respiratory distress syndrome)
  • Swelling of the face, around the eyes and mouth, inside the mouth and/or throat, and tongue, with difficulty breathing or swallowing (angioedema - signs of an allergic reaction)
  • Reaction in an area previously treated with radiation, such as red skin or lung inflammation (radiation recall syndrome)
  • Worsening of radiation side effects

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to everolimus or similar medicines.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose might need to be changed.
  • This medicine can raise your blood sugar, so tell your doctor if you have diabetes or notice increased thirst or urination.
  • Talk to your doctor before getting any vaccines while taking this medicine.
  • This medicine can increase your cholesterol levels.

  • Tell your doctor if you've had recent surgery or have wounds that haven't healed, as this medicine might affect healing.
  • This medicine can weaken your immune system, making you more prone to infections. Tell your doctor if you have a fever or other signs of infection.
  • If you've had Hepatitis B in the past, it might become active again while taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had or are going to have radiation therapy, as this medicine can make side effects worse.
  • Your doctor will check your kidney function regularly.
  • Mouth sores are common. Your doctor might change your dose or suggest mouthwash.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can increase the medicine's level in your blood.
  • This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy and can harm the baby. Use effective birth control during treatment and for 8 weeks after.
  • Do not breastfeed while taking this medicine or for 2 weeks after your last dose, as it can harm the baby.
  • This medicine contains lactose. If you have an intolerance to some sugars, talk to your doctor.
