How to Use

Dosage

The typical dose is 10 mg once a day.

Method

Take the tablet whole with a glass of water, at about the same time each day, with or without food. Do not chew or crush the tablets.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 10 mg, unless your doctor tells you otherwise due to liver problems or side effects.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fever, chills (signs of infection)
  • Fever, cough, breathing difficulties, wheezing (signs of lung inflammation)
  • Fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, pale skin, low red blood cell count (anemia)
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
  • Loss of appetite, high blood fats (hypercholesterolemia)
  • Taste changes, headache
  • Nosebleeds
  • Cough
  • Mouth sores
  • Stomach problems including nausea or diarrhea
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Swelling in arms, hands, feet, ankles or other body parts (edema)
  • Weight loss
  • Spontaneous bleeding and bruising (low platelet count)
  • Fever, sore throat, infection-related mouth sores (low white blood cell count)
  • Lymphedema (swelling, usually in hands or feet)
  • Shortness of breath (dyspnea)
  • Thirst, low urine output, dark urine, dry and red skin, irritability (signs of dehydration)
  • Sleep problems (insomnia)
  • Headache, dizziness (signs of high blood pressure)
  • Inflammation of the lining of the mouth, stomach or intestines

  • Dry skin, flaky skin, skin damage
  • Nail damage, brittle nails
  • Hair thinning
  • Abnormal liver function tests (increased alanine and aspartate aminotransferase)
  • Abnormal kidney function tests (increased creatinine)
  • Eyelid swelling
  • Protein in urine
RARE
  • Fever, rash, joint pain and inflammation, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, yellow skin, pain in upper right abdomen, pale stools, dark urine (signs of reactivated hepatitis B)
  • Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing when lying down, swelling in legs and feet (signs of heart failure)
  • Swelling and/or pain in one leg, usually calf, redness or warmth in the area (signs of a blood clot in leg vein)
  • Sudden breathing difficulties, chest pain, coughing up blood (signs of a blood clot in lung)
  • Significantly reduced urine output, swelling in legs, confusion, and back pain (signs of acute kidney failure)
  • Rash, itching, hives, breathing and swallowing difficulties, dizziness (signs of severe allergic reaction)
  • Feeling weak, spontaneous bleeding and bruising, and frequent infections with symptoms like fever, chills, sore throat, or mouth sores (low blood cell counts)
  • Loss of taste
  • Coughing up blood
  • Menstrual disorders, such as missed periods
  • Urinating more often than usual
  • Chest pain
  • Abnormal wound healing
  • Hot flashes
  • Watery, itchy, and red eyes, or redness of the eyes (conjunctivitis)
  • Fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, pale skin (signs of low red blood cell count, possibly due to pure red cell aplasia)
  • Swelling of the face around the eyes and mouth, inside the mouth and/or throat and tongue, breathing and swallowing difficulties (angioedema); these can be signs of an allergic reaction.
  • Shortness of breath or rapid breathing (signs of acute respiratory distress syndrome).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to everolimus or similar substances, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • This medicine can increase blood sugar levels, so tell your doctor if you have diabetes or notice increased thirst or urination.
  • Do not get vaccinated while taking this medicine without discussing it with your doctor.
  • This medicine can increase cholesterol and other fat levels in your blood, so your doctor will check these levels.

  • Tell your doctor if you have recently had major surgery or have unhealed wounds, as this medicine may affect wound healing.
  • If you have an infection, it may need to be treated before you start this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had hepatitis B, as this medicine might reactivate it.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had or are going to have radiation therapy, as this medicine can worsen side effects from radiation.
  • This medicine can weaken your immune system, making you more prone to infections. Contact your doctor if you have a fever or other signs of infection.
  • This medicine may affect kidney function, so your doctor will monitor your kidneys.
  • This medicine may cause shortness of breath, cough, and fever.
  • This medicine may cause mouth sores. Your doctor may need to pause or stop treatment.
  • Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as they can increase the amount of medicine in your blood.
  • This medicine can harm an unborn baby, so it's not recommended during pregnancy. Use reliable contraception during and for 8 weeks after treatment.
  • Do not breastfeed during treatment or for 2 weeks after the last dose, as this medicine can harm your baby.
  • If you feel unusually tired, be extra careful when driving or using machines.
  • This medicine contains lactose. If you have a sugar intolerance, talk to your doctor before taking it.
  • STOP taking Everolimus Viatris and get immediate medical help if you experience signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or severe itchy rash.
