How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 10 mg once a day. If you have liver problems, your doctor might start you on a lower dose (2.5 mg, 5 mg, or 7.5 mg daily).

Method

Take Everolimus Viatris once a day, around the same time, every day. You can take it with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablets.

Important

Do not take more than 10 mg per day, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fever and chills (signs of infection)
  • Fever, cough, shortness of breath, wheezing (signs of lung inflammation)
  • Tiredness, shortness of breath, dizziness, pale skin (signs of low red blood cells/anemia)
  • High blood sugar
  • Loss of appetite, weight loss
  • High blood fats (cholesterol, triglycerides)
  • Taste changes, headache
  • Nosebleeds
  • Cough
  • Mouth sores, inflammation in the mouth or gut, dry mouth, heartburn, difficulty swallowing, mouth pain
  • Stomach upset (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain)
  • Skin problems (rash, itching, redness, dry/flaky skin, skin damage, acne, rash and pain on palms or soles - hand-foot syndrome)
  • Swelling (in arms, hands, feet, ankles, other body parts, or eyelids)
  • Easy bleeding or bruising (due to low platelets)
  • Dehydration (feeling thirsty, low or dark urine, dry red skin, irritability)
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Joint pain
  • Irregular periods
  • Low levels of potassium, phosphate, or calcium in blood
  • Nail problems, hair thinning
  • Abnormal liver or kidney test results, protein in urine
  • Feeling weak or tired
RARE
  • Weakness, easy bleeding or bruising, and frequent infections with symptoms like fever, chills, sore throat, or mouth sores (due to very low blood cells)
  • Loss of taste
  • Coughing up blood
  • Missed periods
  • Urinating more often than usual
  • Chest pain
  • Abnormal wound healing
  • Hot flashes
  • Watery, itchy, red eyes (conjunctivitis)
  • Reactivation of hepatitis B (symptoms like fever, rash, joint pain, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea, yellow skin or eyes, pain in the upper right stomach, pale stools, dark urine)
  • Heart failure (shortness of breath, difficulty breathing when lying down, swollen feet or legs)
  • Blood clot in a leg vein (swelling and/or pain in one leg, redness or warm skin in the affected area)
  • Blood clot in the lung (sudden shortness of breath, chest pain, or coughing up blood)
  • Sudden kidney failure (greatly reduced urine, swollen legs, confusion, back pain)
  • Acute respiratory distress syndrome (severe shortness of breath or fast breathing)

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and get urgent medical help if you have signs of a serious allergic reaction like trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or a severe itchy rash.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose might need to be changed.
  • This medicine can raise blood sugar levels. Tell your doctor if you feel very thirsty or pee more often.
  • This medicine can weaken your immune system, making you more likely to get infections. Tell your doctor if you have a fever or other signs of infection.
  • If you've recently had surgery or have wounds that haven't healed, tell your doctor, as this medicine might affect wound healing.

  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can increase the amount of medicine in your blood to harmful levels.
  • This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy and you should not breastfeed while taking it or for 2 weeks after the last dose. Use reliable birth control during treatment and for 8 weeks after.
