How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 10 mg once a day. Your doctor will tell you how many tablets to take.

Method

Take Everolimus Sandoz once a day at about the same time, with or without food. Swallow the tablet(s) whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablets.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 10 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fever, chills (signs of infection)
  • Fever, cough, difficulty breathing, wheezing (signs of lung inflammation/pneumonia)
  • High blood sugar
  • Loss of appetite
  • Taste changes
  • Headache
  • Nosebleed

  • Mouth sores
  • Upset stomach, including nausea or diarrhea
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Tiredness, shortness of breath, dizziness, pale skin (signs of low red blood cells, anemia)
  • Swelling of arms, hands, feet, ankles, or other body parts (signs of fluid retention/edema)
  • Weight loss
  • High blood fat levels (high cholesterol)
  • Easy bleeding or bruising (signs of low platelet count)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Thirst, low urine output, dark urine, dry, red skin, irritability (signs of dehydration)
  • Sleep problems (insomnia)
  • Headache, dizziness (signs of high blood pressure)
  • Swelling in parts of arms (including fingers) or legs (including toes), feeling of heaviness, limited movement, discomfort (possible signs of lymphedema)
  • Fever due to infection, sore throat, or mouth sores (signs of low white blood cells)
  • Fever
  • Inflammation in the lining of the mouth, stomach, or intestines

  • Mild hair loss
  • Abnormal liver function test results (increased ALT and AST)
  • Abnormal kidney function test results (increased creatinine)
  • Eyelid swelling
  • Protein in urine
RARE
  • Fever, rash, joint pain and inflammation, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea, yellow skin, upper right abdominal pain, pale stools, dark urine (signs of Hepatitis B reactivation)
  • Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing when lying down, swelling of legs and feet (signs of heart failure)
  • Swelling and/or pain in one leg, usually the calf, skin redness or warmth in this area (signs of blood clot in leg vein)
  • Sudden difficulty breathing, chest pain, and coughing up blood (possible signs of pulmonary embolism, a blockage in a lung artery)
  • Significantly reduced urine output, leg swelling, confusion, and back pain (signs of sudden kidney failure)
  • Rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing and swallowing, dizziness (signs of severe allergic reaction)
  • Weakness, spontaneous bleeding or bruising and frequent infections with symptoms like fever, chills, sore throat or mouth sores (signs of low levels of several blood cells, pancytopenia)
  • Loss of taste
  • Coughing up blood
  • Menstrual problems, such as missed periods
  • Frequent daytime urination
  • Chest pain
  • Abnormal wound healing
  • Hot flashes
  • Watery eyes with itching and redness, red eyes (conjunctivitis)
  • Shortness of breath or rapid breathing (signs of acute respiratory distress syndrome)
  • Tiredness, shortness of breath, dizziness, pale skin (signs of low red blood cells, possibly a type of anemia called erythroblastopenia)
  • Swelling of face, around eyes, mouth and inside mouth and/or throat and tongue, and difficulty breathing or swallowing (angioedema, signs of an allergic reaction)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to everolimus, similar substances like sirolimus or temsirolimus, or any other ingredients.
  • Inform your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose might need to be adjusted.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes or high blood sugar, as this medicine can make it worse.
  • Do not get vaccinated while taking this medicine without talking to your doctor.
  • This medicine can increase cholesterol and fat levels in your blood, so tell your doctor if you have high cholesterol.

  • If you've had recent surgery or have unhealed wounds, this medicine might make wound healing harder.
  • If you have an infection, it might need to be treated before starting this medicine.
  • If you have a history of Hepatitis B, this medicine might reactivate it.
  • Inform your doctor if you have received or will receive radiation therapy.
  • This medicine can weaken your immune system, making you more prone to infections. Contact your doctor if you have fever or other signs of infection.
  • This medicine can affect your kidney function, so your doctor will monitor it.
  • This medicine can cause mouth sores. Your doctor might pause or stop treatment, or recommend special mouthwash or gel. Do not use any product without asking your doctor first.
  • Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as they can increase the amount of everolimus in your blood to a harmful level.
  • This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy as it may harm the fetus. Women who can become pregnant must use very effective birth control during treatment and for 8 weeks after stopping.
  • Do not breastfeed while taking this medicine or for 2 weeks after the last dose, as it may harm the baby.
  • This medicine contains lactose. If you have a sugar intolerance, talk to your doctor before taking it.
