How to Use

Dosage

Take 10 mg once a day, or as your doctor tells you if you have liver problems.

Method

Take the tablet(s) whole with water, at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not chew or crush them.

Important

Do not take more than 10 mg per day, unless your doctor adjusts your dose for liver problems.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fever and chills (signs of infection)
  • Fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or wheezing (signs of lung problems)
  • High blood sugar
  • Not feeling hungry
  • Changes in taste
  • Headache
  • Nosebleeds
  • Cough
  • Sores in the mouth
  • Upset stomach, feeling sick (nausea), or diarrhea
  • Skin rash
  • Itchy skin
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Feeling tired, short of breath, dizzy, or pale skin due to low red blood cells
  • Swelling in arms, hands, feet, ankles, or other body parts
  • Weight loss
  • High fat levels in your blood (high cholesterol)
  • Easy bleeding or bruising (low blood platelets)
  • Feeling short of breath
  • Thirst, urinating less, dark urine, dry and red skin, feeling irritable (signs of not enough fluid in body)
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Headache and dizziness (high blood pressure)
  • Swelling, heaviness, limited movement, or discomfort in part or all of an arm or leg (lymph swelling)
  • Fever, sore throat, or mouth sores from infection (low white blood cells)
  • Inflammation inside the mouth, stomach, or intestines
  • Dry mouth
  • Heartburn
  • Vomiting
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Stomach pain
  • Acne
  • Rash and pain on the palms of your hands or soles of your feet
  • Redness of the skin
  • Joint pain
  • Mouth pain
  • Menstrual problems, like irregular periods
  • High levels of certain blood fats (triglycerides)
  • Low potassium in the blood
  • Low phosphate in the blood
  • Low calcium in the blood
  • Dry skin, flaky skin, or skin damage
  • Nail damage or brittle nails
  • Minor hair loss
  • Abnormal liver test results
  • Abnormal kidney test results
  • Swollen eyelids
  • Protein in your urine
RARE
  • Feeling weak, easy bleeding or bruising, and frequent infections with fever, chills, sore throat, or mouth sores (signs of a very low blood cell count)
  • Complete loss of taste
  • Coughing up blood
  • Menstrual problems, such as missed periods
  • Urinating more often during the day
  • Chest pain
  • Wounds not healing normally
  • Hot flashes
  • Watery, itchy, red eyes, or red eyes (eye inflammation)
  • Tiredness, shortness of breath, dizziness, or pale skin due to a very low red blood cell count (a type of anemia)
  • Swelling of the face, around the eyes, inside the mouth and/or throat and tongue, or difficulty breathing or swallowing (signs of a severe allergic reaction)
  • Shortness of breath or fast breathing (a severe lung condition)

Important Warnings

  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose might change.
  • This medicine can raise your blood sugar, so tell your doctor if you have diabetes or feel very thirsty and pee more.
  • Do not get any shots or vaccines while taking this medicine.
  • This medicine can raise your cholesterol; your doctor will check this.
  • Tell your doctor if you had surgery recently or have wounds that are not healing.

  • Tell your doctor if you have an infection, or if you get a fever, as this medicine can weaken your immune system.
  • If you have had hepatitis B, tell your doctor because it might flare up again.
  • Tell your doctor if you are getting or have had radiation therapy, as this medicine can make side effects worse.
  • This medicine can affect your kidneys; your doctor will do tests to check them.
  • This medicine can cause mouth sores. Your doctor might change your dose or suggest special mouth rinses.
