How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 10 mg once a day.

Method

Take Everolimus Avansor once a day at about the same time, with or without food. Swallow the tablets whole with water; do not chew or crush them.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 10 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Tiredness, dizziness, pale skin
  • High blood sugar
  • Loss of appetite, high blood fat levels (cholesterol, triglycerides)
  • Changes in taste, headache
  • Nosebleeds
  • Cough
  • Mouth sores
  • Upset stomach, nausea, or diarrhea
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling in arms, hands, feet, ankles, or other body parts
  • Weight loss
  • Fever, chills
  • Fever, cough, difficulty breathing, wheezing
  • Spontaneous bleeding or bruising, fever, sore throat, or mouth sores due to infection
  • Excessive thirst, increased urination, dry red irritated skin
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Abdominal pain
  • Acne
  • Rash and pain in palms and soles
  • Skin redness
  • Joint pain
  • Mouth pain
  • Menstrual problems, such as irregular periods
  • Low blood potassium, phosphate, or calcium levels
  • Dry or flaky skin, skin damage, nail problems, broken nails, mild hair loss
  • Abnormal liver or kidney test results
  • Swollen eyelids
  • Protein in urine
RARE
  • Severe weakness, spontaneous bleeding or bruising, and frequent infections (due to very low levels of several blood cell types)
  • Loss of taste
  • Coughing up blood
  • Missed periods
  • Urinating more often than usual during the day
  • Chest pain
  • Abnormal wound healing
  • Hot flashes
  • Watery, itchy, and red eyes
  • Severe tiredness, shortness of breath, dizziness, or pale skin due to a very low red blood cell count (a type of anemia)
  • Swelling of the face, around the eyes, mouth, throat, or tongue, with difficulty breathing or swallowing (signs of a severe allergic reaction)
  • Skin redness or lung inflammation in an area previously treated with radiation (radiation recall syndrome)
  • Worsening of side effects from radiation therapy
  • Sudden shortness of breath, chest pain, or coughing up blood (possible signs of a blood clot in the lung)
  • Significantly reduced urine output, swollen legs, confusion, or back pain (signs of sudden kidney failure)
  • Severe rash, itching, or hives (signs of a severe allergic reaction)
  • Shortness of breath or fast breathing (signs of acute respiratory distress syndrome)
  • Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing when lying down, swollen feet or legs (signs of heart failure)
  • Swelling and/or pain in one leg, usually the calf, with redness or warmth in this area (signs of a blood clot in a leg vein)
  • Fever, rash, joint pain and inflammation, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea, jaundice, pain in the upper right abdomen, pale stools, dark urine (may be signs of reactivated hepatitis B)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to everolimus or similar medicines.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose may need to be changed.
  • This medicine can raise blood sugar. Tell your doctor if you feel very thirsty or pee more often.
  • Do not get vaccines while taking this medicine.
  • It may increase your cholesterol or other fats in your blood.

  • Tell your doctor if you recently had surgery or have wounds that have not healed, as it may affect wound healing.
  • Any infection you have might need to be treated before you start this medicine.
  • If you have had hepatitis B, it might become active again during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you have received or will receive radiation therapy.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy. Women who can get pregnant must use effective birth control during treatment and for 8 weeks after.
  • Do not breastfeed during treatment or for 2 weeks after your last dose.
  • This medicine should not be given to children or teenagers under 18 years old.
  • This medicine can weaken your immune system, making you more likely to get infections. Talk to your doctor if you have fever or other signs of infection.
  • Your doctor will check your kidney function while you are taking this medicine.
  • You may get mouth sores. Your doctor might stop your treatment or give you medicine for them.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, as Everolimus Avansor can affect how they work.
