How to Use

Dosage

The dosage varies depending on your condition. Typically, it's 30 mg, 60 mg, or 90 mg once a day. For gout, it's 120 mg, and after dental surgery, 90 mg. Always follow your doctor's specific instructions.

Method

Take the tablet by mouth once a day. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor prescribes. The maximum daily dose is usually 90 mg, but for some short-term conditions, 120 mg may be used for a limited time.

COMMON
  • Stomach pain
  • Pain and swelling in the socket after a tooth is pulled
  • Swelling in the legs and/or feet from too much fluid
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat
  • High blood pressure
  • Wheezing or shortness of breath
  • Constipation, gas, heartburn, indigestion, stomach upset (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), stomach inflammation, mouth sores
  • Changes in liver blood test results
  • Easy bruising
  • Tiredness, weakness, or flu-like feelings
RARE
  • Stomach flu, breathing tube infection, bladder infection
  • Changes in other blood tests (e.g., fewer red or white blood cells, fewer clotting cells)
  • Allergic skin reactions, like itchy rash
  • Changes in appetite, weight gain
  • Anxiety, depression, confusion, restlessness, less focus, seeing or hearing things that aren't real
  • Changes in taste, trouble sleeping, numbness, tingling, feeling sleepy
  • Blurred vision, irritated or red eyes, ringing in ears, feeling dizzy or like spinning
  • Very fast or irregular heartbeats (atrial fibrillation), heart failure, chest pain, heart attack
  • Flushing, stroke or mini-stroke, very high blood pressure, inflammation of blood vessels
  • Cough, nosebleed
  • Swollen stomach, changes in bowel movements, dry mouth, serious stomach ulcer or bleeding, irritable bowel, pancreas inflammation
  • Face swelling, rash, red skin, muscle cramps, stiffness, muscle pain
  • High potassium in blood, changes in kidney tests, severe kidney problems, low sodium in blood
  • Liver problems (hepatitis), liver failure, yellow skin and/or eyes (jaundice)
  • Very serious allergic reactions (e.g., severe swelling of face/throat, shock), severe skin reactions

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to etoricoxib or similar pain medicines (NSAIDs, like aspirin or COX-2 inhibitors).
  • Do not use if you have a stomach ulcer or bleeding in your stomach or intestines.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver or kidney disease.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Do not use if you are under 16 years old.
