How to Use

Dosage

The typical starting dose is 30 mg once daily for osteoarthritis, 60 mg once daily for rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis, and 120 mg once daily for gout (for a maximum of 8 days) or 90 mg for dental surgery pain (for a maximum of 3 days). Your doctor will tell you the exact dose.

Method

Take one tablet orally once a day, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 120 mg in a single day. If you have mild liver disease, do not take more than 60 mg daily. If you have moderate liver disease, do not take more than 30 mg daily.

  • Stomach or bowel infection, urinary tract infection
  • Changes in blood cell counts (e.g., low red or white blood cells, low platelets)
  • Severe allergic reactions (like hives, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat with difficulty breathing, or serious skin reactions; call a doctor right away)
  • Changes in appetite, weight gain
  • Anxiety, sadness, trouble concentrating, seeing or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations)
  • Changes in taste, trouble sleeping, numbness or tingling, sleepiness
  • Blurred vision, eye irritation or redness
  • Ringing in the ears, feeling dizzy or spinning (vertigo)
  • Very fast or irregular heartbeat, heart failure, chest tightness, heart attack, flushing
  • Stroke or mini-stroke, very high blood pressure, inflamed blood vessels
  • Cough, nosebleeds
  • Swollen belly, changes in bowel habits, dry mouth, stomach ulcer or inflammation that may bleed, irritable bowel syndrome, inflamed pancreas
  • Skin rash or redness, muscle cramps or stiffness
  • High potassium levels in blood, changes in kidney tests, severe kidney problems
  • Liver problems (inflammation, failure), yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), low sodium in blood
  • Confusion, restlessness

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to etoricoxib or similar pain relievers (NSAIDs, including aspirin).
  • Do not use if you have an active stomach ulcer or bleeding in your stomach or intestines.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver or kidney disease.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Do not give this medicine to children or teenagers under 16 years old.

  • Do not use if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart failure, chest pain (angina), or have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, poor circulation in your legs, or a stroke/mini-stroke. This medicine can increase the risk of heart problems.
  • Discuss with your doctor if you have ever had stomach bleeding, are dehydrated, have swelling, or have diabetes, high cholesterol, or if you smoke, as these can increase heart disease risk.
  • This medicine can hide signs of infection, like fever.
