How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe the correct dose for your condition. Doses typically range from 30-120 mg once daily, depending on the specific illness.

Method

Take the tablet by mouth once a day. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Never exceed the dose your doctor has prescribed. The maximum daily dose is typically 120 mg, and for some conditions, the duration of use may be limited.

Possible Side Effects

  • Stomach pain

  • Inflammation and pain in the tooth socket after tooth extraction (dry socket)
  • Swelling of legs and/or feet due to fluid retention
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Palpitations (fast or irregular heartbeats), irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure
  • Wheezing or shortness of breath
  • Constipation, gas, stomach lining inflammation, heartburn, diarrhea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, esophagus inflammation, mouth sores
  • Changes in liver function blood test results
  • Bruising
  • Tiredness and weakness, flu-like symptoms
  • Gastroenteritis (stomach and intestinal inflammation / stomach flu), upper respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection
  • Changes in lab values (decreased red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets)
  • Hypersensitivity (allergic reaction, including hives, severe enough to require immediate medical attention)
  • Increased or decreased appetite, weight gain
  • Anxiety, depression, reduced mental alertness, hallucinations, taste disturbance, insomnia, numbness or tingling, drowsiness
  • Blurred vision, eye irritation and redness
  • Ringing in the ears, spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Heart failure, chest tightness, chest pain (angina), heart attack, stroke, severe increase in blood pressure
  • Cough, shortness of breath, nosebleeds
  • Abdominal bloating; changes in bowel function, dry mouth, stomach ulcer, stomach lining inflammation, irritable bowel syndrome, pancreatitis
  • Facial swelling, rash or itchy skin, skin redness
  • Muscle spasms or cramps, muscle pain or stiffness
  • High blood potassium levels, changes in kidney function test results, severe kidney disease
  • Chest pain
  • Angioedema (severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, causing breathing/swallowing difficulty), anaphylactic reactions (including shock)
  • Confusion, restlessness
  • Liver problems (inflammation of the liver), liver failure, yellowing of skin and/or eyes (jaundice)
  • Low blood sodium levels
  • Severe skin reactions

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to etoricoxib or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have an active stomach ulcer or bleeding in your stomach or intestines.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to NSAID medicines, including aspirin.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney disease.

  • Do not give to children or adolescents under 16 years of age.
  • Do not take if you have inflammatory bowel disease (like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).
  • Do not take if you have heart problems, such as heart failure, chest pain, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or if you have had a heart attack or stroke.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, swelling of ankles, yellowing of skin/eyes, severe stomach pain, black stools, or a severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat).

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. May increase swelling, worsen renal and cardiac failure and cause cardiovascular events. Risk of gastrointestinal bleeding less than with traditional NSAIDs.
