Etoricoxib Krka

Etoricoxib Krka helps relieve joint and muscle pain and swelling (inflammation) in conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and gout, and is also used for short-term moderate pain after dental surgery in people aged 16 and older.

How to Use

Dosage

The typical dose is 30 mg, 60 mg, or 90 mg once daily, depending on your condition.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth, one tablet once a day. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 120 mg per day. This higher dose is only for a short time for gout.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach pain
  • Dry socket (pain after tooth extraction)
  • Swelling in legs or ankles (due to fluid retention)
  • Dizziness or headache
  • Heart palpitations or irregular heartbeat
  • High blood pressure
  • Wheezing or shortness of breath
  • Constipation, gas, heartburn, diarrhea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, inflammation in the food pipe, or mouth sores
  • Changes in liver function tests
  • Bruising or tendency to bruise
  • Tiredness, weakness, or flu-like symptoms
RARE
  • Allergic reactions, such as hives, or severe reactions like swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which can make it hard to breathe or swallow (requires immediate medical help), including shock
  • Inflammation of the stomach and intestines, or infections (e.g., upper respiratory or urinary tract infection)
  • Changes in blood counts (fewer red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets)
  • Changes in appetite, weight gain
  • Anxiety, depression, trouble focusing, hallucinations
  • Changes in taste, trouble sleeping, tingling or numbness, drowsiness
  • Blurred vision, eye irritation or redness
  • Ringing in the ears or spinning dizziness
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat, heart failure, chest tightness (angina), heart attack
  • Flushing, stroke (including mini-stroke or TIA), very high blood pressure, inflamed blood vessels
  • Cough, shortness of breath, nosebleed
  • Stomach bloating, changes in bowel habits, dry mouth, severe stomach ulcer or inflammation (which can lead to bleeding), irritable bowel, inflammation of the pancreas
  • Facial swelling, rash or itching, red skin
  • Muscle cramps or pain, muscle stiffness
  • High potassium levels in blood, changes in kidney blood tests, severe kidney problems, chest pain
  • Confusion, restlessness
  • Liver problems (hepatitis), low blood sodium, liver failure, yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Severe skin reactions

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to etoricoxib or other pain relievers (like aspirin).
  • Do not use if you have stomach ulcers or bleeding in your stomach or intestines.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver or kidney disease.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to get pregnant.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 16 years old.

  • Tell your doctor if you have had dehydration, swelling, liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, if you smoke, or if you have an infection.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter ones.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. May increase swelling, worsen renal and cardiac failure and cause cardiovascular events. Risk of gastrointestinal bleeding less than with traditional NSAIDs.
