How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children over 20 kg, start with 1-2 micrograms daily, then 0.5-2 micrograms daily for maintenance. For children under 20 kg, start with 0.05 micrograms per kg daily.

Method

Take the capsules whole with plenty of liquid.

Important

Your doctor may increase your daily dose up to 6 micrograms if needed.

  • Tiredness, weakness, general discomfort
  • Calcification (calcium crystals forming in tissues)
  • Dizziness

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to alfakalcidol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have high calcium levels in your blood.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, including kidney stones.
  • Your doctor will regularly check your blood calcium and phosphate levels during treatment.
  • If you notice signs of too much calcium in your blood, like poor appetite, tiredness, or nausea, contact your doctor right away.

  • This medicine contains sesame oil, which may cause rare but severe allergic reactions.
  • Do not use if pregnant unless absolutely necessary, as high calcium levels can harm the baby. Discuss with your doctor.
  • Alfakalcidol passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor if you are breastfeeding to decide if you should continue or stop the medicine or breastfeeding.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness, which could affect your ability to drive or use machines. Be careful.
