How to Use

Dosage

For the first 3 weeks, use one vaginal suppository (0.03 mg estriol) daily. After that, the usual maintenance dose is one suppository twice a week.

Method

Insert the vaginal suppository deep into the vagina, preferably in the evening before you go to sleep.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one vaginal suppository (0.03 mg estriol) during the first three weeks of treatment.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Burning, itching, and pain in and around the vagina.
  • Discomfort when urinating.
RARE
  • Vaginal discharge.
  • Discomfort in the anal and rectal area.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have or have had breast cancer, or if it is suspected.
  • Do not use if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding.
  • Stop using and call your doctor right away if your skin or the whites of your eyes turn yellow, as this could mean liver problems.
  • Stop using and call your doctor right away if you have swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, trouble swallowing, hives, or trouble breathing. This could be a serious allergic reaction.
  • Stop using and call your doctor right away if you become pregnant.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

The classification depends on the dosage form. Systemic use (for example estrogen patch, tablet, gel): Avoid use in older adults. In systemic use, consider potential adverse effects, such as risk of cardiovascular diseases and venous thromboembolism. Consider potential interactions.
