How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe the lowest possible dose that helps with your symptoms.

Method

Change the patch twice a week, for example, on Mondays and Thursdays. Apply it to your lower abdomen, below the waistline. Do not place it on or near your breasts.

Important

Do not use more than one patch at a time and never use a double dose to make up for a forgotten patch.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Skin reactions at the patch site, such as irritation, burning sensation, or rash
  • Breast pain or tenderness
  • Nausea or stomach pain
  • Mood changes (such as depression, nervousness, mood swings, or trouble sleeping)
  • Fluid retention (swelling in hands or feet)
RARE
  • Migraine
  • Dizziness
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Blood clots
  • Gallstones
  • Hair loss
  • Severe allergic reaction (swelling of face or throat, difficulty breathing)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Estradot if you have or are suspected of having breast cancer or other cancer that grows with estrogen.
  • Do not use Estradot if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding.
  • Do not use Estradot if you have or have had a blood clot in your leg or lungs.
  • Do not use Estradot if you have recently had a heart attack, stroke, or chest pain, or if you have had them in the past.
  • If you become pregnant while using Estradot, stop treatment immediately and contact your doctor.

  • Stop using Estradot and seek immediate medical attention if you notice signs of a blood clot, such as painful swelling or redness in your legs, sudden chest pain, or difficulty breathing.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

The classification depends on the dosage form. Systemic use (for example estrogen patch, tablet, gel): Avoid use in older adults. In systemic use, consider potential adverse effects, such as risk of cardiovascular diseases and venous thromboembolism. Consider potential interactions.
