How to Use

Dosage

One tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not chew or crush it. You can take it at any time of day, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one 20 mg tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache.
  • Stomach or bowel problems like diarrhea, stomach pain, constipation, or gas.
  • Feeling sick (nausea) or throwing up (vomiting).
  • Small, harmless growths in the stomach (polyps).
RARE
  • Swelling in your feet and ankles.
  • Trouble sleeping (insomnia).
  • Dizziness, tingling (pins and needles), drowsiness, or feeling lightheaded.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Changes in blood tests (like liver function tests or low sodium/magnesium), which can cause tiredness, muscle twitches, confusion, seizures, or a fast heartbeat.
  • Skin rash, hives, itching, or hair loss.
  • Broken bones (hip, wrist, or spine) if used for a long time at high doses.
  • Feeling worried, confused, depressed, aggressive, or seeing/hearing things that are not there (hallucinations).
  • Changes in taste or blurred vision.
  • Sudden trouble breathing or wheezing.
  • Sore mouth, fungal infection in the gut (thrush), or inflammation of the bowel causing diarrhea.
  • Severe liver problems that can cause yellow skin, dark urine, tiredness, or even affect the brain.
  • Joint pain, muscle pain, or muscle weakness.
  • Feeling generally unwell or tired, or increased sweating.
  • Severe kidney problems.
  • Enlarged breasts in men.
  • Weakened immune system.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to esomeprazole or similar medicines (proton pump inhibitors), or any other ingredients in Esopraz.
  • Do not use if you are taking medicine containing nelfinavir (for HIV infection).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained weight loss, difficulty swallowing, stomach pain, vomiting food or blood, or dark stools.
  • If you get a rash, especially in sun-exposed areas, or severe skin reactions (like blistering, peeling skin, or widespread rash with fever and swollen glands), stop taking Esopraz and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you develop yellow skin, dark urine, and tiredness, or sudden wheezing, swelling, rash, or fainting, as these could be signs of liver problems or a severe allergic reaction.
