How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose and how often you receive it.

Method

This medicine is given by a doctor or nurse as a slow injection into a vein or muscle. It can also be given as a drip (infusion).

Important

Your doctor will determine the maximum dose you can receive.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Increased heart rate
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Throat spasms
  • Weakened breathing
  • Increased mucus in the lungs
  • Blurred vision
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Increased saliva
  • Awakening reactions after anesthesia, such as vivid dreams, nightmares, dizziness, and restlessness.
RARE
  • Sudden rash, breathing problems, and fainting (anaphylactic reaction/shock). This is a very serious allergic reaction.
  • Double vision
  • Increased eye pressure
  • Involuntary movements that may resemble convulsions
  • Rash resembling measles, skin rash
  • Pain and/or redness at the injection site
  • Irregular or slow heart rate
  • Low blood pressure

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to esketamine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have high blood pressure or high pressure inside your head.
  • Do not use if you have a pregnancy complication called eclampsia or pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy).
  • Do not use this medicine with xanthine derivatives or ergometrine (used to start labor or stop bleeding after birth).
  • You should not receive Esketamine Orifarm as the only anesthetic if you have hardened arteries that supply blood to your heart.

  • Tell your doctor if you have a weak heart (heart failure) or untreated high blood pressure.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience sudden, severe chest pain (angina).
  • Tell your doctor if you have high pressure inside your head due to a stroke or illness.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diseases of the brain or spinal cord.
  • Tell your doctor if you need an eye exam or eye surgery.
  • Tell your doctor if you are under the influence of alcohol.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had serious mental health problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism that is not well treated).
  • Tell your doctor if you are in a situation during childbirth where your uterine muscles need to be relaxed (e.g., threatened uterine rupture or umbilical cord prolapse).
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of drug abuse or addiction.
  • Tell your doctor if you have reduced liver function.
  • Tell your doctor if you are going to have blood or urine tests, as Esketamine Orifarm can affect the test results.
  • Tell your doctor if you suffer from shortness of breath after the injection.
  • Long-term use or misuse of this medicine can cause bladder inflammation and liver damage.
  • You should have someone with you when you go home after receiving this medicine. Do not drive or operate machinery for at least 24 hours. Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours after treatment.
