Method
Esketamine Kalceks is given as a slow injection into a vein or muscle, or as a drip (infusion). It is always given by a doctor or nurse in a hospital setting.
Important
The maximum daily dose will be determined by your doctor or nurse.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Waking-up reactions after anesthesia, including vivid dreams, nightmares, dizziness, and restlessness.
- •Blurred vision.
- •Temporary fast heart rate, high blood pressure.
- •Effects on breathing during anesthesia.
- •Nausea, vomiting, increased salivation.
RARE
- •Increased body movements (like muscle twitching) which may look like seizures; increased eye movements.
- •Double vision, increased eye pressure.
- •Rash.
- •Pain and/or redness at the injection site.
- •Severe allergic reactions.
- •Irregular or slow heart rate.
- •Low blood pressure.
- •Hallucinations, feelings of depression and dissatisfaction, anxiety, confusion about time and place.
- •Abnormal liver function test results.
- •Liver damage.
Important Warnings
- Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to esketamine or any other ingredients.
- Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, chest pain, or a heart condition, or if you've had a heart attack in the last 6 months.
- Inform your doctor if you have high pressure in your brain or eyes (like glaucoma), or if you have a head injury.
- Do not take this medicine if you have severe pregnancy complications like eclampsia or pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy).
- Tell your doctor if you have liver disease or an overactive thyroid.
