How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is one 8 mg capsule each morning.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with a little liquid, for example, after breakfast.

Important

Your doctor may prescribe a higher dose, up to 16 mg per day, if needed.

  • Tiredness
  • Changes in blood tests (e.g., creatinine)
  • Anemia (low red blood cells)
  • Changes in appetite, weight gain or loss
  • Trouble sleeping, nervousness, drowsiness, tingling or numbness in skin
  • Increased eye pressure, blurred vision
  • Ringing in ears (tinnitus)
  • Shortness of breath, nosebleeds
  • Vomiting, mouth inflammation, dry mouth, heartburn
  • Sensitivity to light, excessive sweating
  • Neck pain, feeling of heaviness in the chest
  • Frequent urination, impotence
  • Low white blood cells (can cause fever or infections)
  • Low platelets (can cause easy bruising or bleeding)
  • Heart attack
  • Gum overgrowth (can be avoided with good oral hygiene)
  • Cold sensation in limbs
  • Hair loss
  • Breast enlargement in men (gynecomastia)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Escor if you are allergic to nilvadipine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take Escor if you have very low blood pressure, a slow heart rate, severe aortic narrowing, or bleeding in the brain.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Escor if you have liver or kidney problems, a recent heart attack, chest pain, a very slow heart rate, or untreated heart failure.
  • Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while taking Escor.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine.

  • This medicine can cause headaches, dizziness, or drowsiness, especially when you start treatment or increase your dose. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience these effects.

Category A
