How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose of Eribulin medac is 1.23 mg/m², but your doctor may change this based on blood test results or other factors.

Method

A trained healthcare professional will give Eribulin medac as an injection into a vein, which takes 2-5 minutes. A saline flush is recommended afterwards.

Important

Eribulin medac is usually given on day 1 and day 8 of each 21-day treatment cycle. Your doctor will decide how many cycles you need and may adjust or delay your dose based on blood tests.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Decreased white or red blood cell count
  • Tiredness or weakness
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea
  • Numbness, tingling or prickling sensation
  • Fever
  • Loss of appetite, weight loss
  • Difficulty breathing, cough
  • Joint, muscle, and back pain
  • Headache
  • Hair loss
  • Decreased platelet count (may cause bruising or prolonged bleeding time)
  • Febrile infection, pneumonia, chills
  • Fast heartbeat, skin redness
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness
  • Increased tear production, conjunctivitis (redness and soreness of the eye surface), nosebleed
  • Dehydration, dry mouth, cold sores, oral thrush, indigestion, heartburn, stomach pain or bloating
  • Soft tissue swelling, pain (especially chest pain, back pain, and bone pain), muscle cramps or muscle weakness
  • Mouth, respiratory tract, and urinary tract infections, pain when urinating
  • Sore throat, sore or runny nose, flu-like symptoms, sore throat
  • Abnormal liver function test results, changes in blood sugar, bilirubin, phosphate, potassium, magnesium, or calcium levels
  • Difficulty sleeping, depression, altered taste
  • Rash, itching, nail problems, dry or red skin
  • Excessive sweating (including night sweats)
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Blood clots in the lungs
  • Shingles
  • Skin swelling and numbness in hands and feet
RARE
  • Blood clots
  • Abnormal liver function tests (liver toxicity)
  • Kidney failure, blood or protein in urine
  • Widespread lung inflammation that may lead to scarring
  • Pancreatitis
  • Mouth sores
  • Severe blood clotting disorder leading to widespread blood clot formation and internal bleeding

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to eribulin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding.
  • This medicine is not for children aged 0-18 years.
  • Women who can get pregnant must use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 7 months after the last dose. Eribulin medac can cause serious birth defects.
  • Men must use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 4 months after the last dose, and should not father a child. Eribulin medac can cause permanent fertility problems in men.

  • Tell your doctor if you have a fever or an infection.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience numbness, tingling, prickling sensations, touch sensitivity, or muscle weakness.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel tired or dizzy.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you have fever with a fast heartbeat, fast breathing, cold/pale/clammy/blotchy skin, and/or confusion, as these could be signs of sepsis (blood poisoning).
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you have difficulty breathing or swelling of your face, mouth, tongue, or throat, as these could be signs of a serious allergic reaction.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you develop severe blistering skin rashes on your skin, in your mouth, eyes, or genitals, as these could be signs of Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis, which can be life-threatening.
