How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 1.23 mg per square meter of your body surface area. Your doctor may change this based on your blood tests or other factors.

Method

A healthcare professional will give you this medicine as an injection into a vein over 2-5 minutes.

Important

This medicine is typically given on day 1 and day 8 of a 21-day treatment cycle. Your doctor will decide how many cycles you need.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Decreased number of white or red blood cells.
  • Tiredness or weakness.
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea.
  • Numbness, tingling, or prickling sensation.
  • Fever.
  • Loss of appetite, weight loss.
  • Breathing difficulties, cough.
  • Joint, muscle, and back pain.
  • Headache.
  • Hair loss.
  • Decreased number of platelets (may lead to bruising or prolonged bleeding).
  • Feverish infection, pneumonia, chills.
  • Rapid heartbeat, flushing.
  • Dizziness.
  • Increased tear production, conjunctivitis (redness and soreness of the eye surface).
  • Nosebleed.
  • Dehydration, dry mouth, oral herpes, oral thrush.
  • Digestive problems, heartburn, abdominal pain or swelling.
  • Soft tissue swelling, pains (especially chest, back, and bone pain), muscle spasms or muscle weakness.
  • Mouth, respiratory, and urinary tract infections, painful urination.
  • Sore throat, sore or runny nose, flu-like symptoms, throat pain.
  • Abnormal liver function tests, changes in blood sugar, bilirubin, phosphate, potassium, magnesium, or calcium levels in the blood.
  • Sleep problems, depression, altered taste.
  • Rash, itching, nail problems, dry or red skin.
  • Excessive sweating (including night sweats).
  • Ringing in the ears.
  • Blood clots in the lungs.
  • Shingles.
  • Skin swelling and numb hands and feet.
RARE
  • Blood clots.
  • Abnormal liver function tests (liver toxicity).
  • Kidney failure, blood or protein in the urine.
  • Widespread lung inflammation that can lead to scarring.
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
  • Mouth sores.
  • A severe blood clotting disorder leading to widespread blood clots and internal bleeding.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to eribulin mesylate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a fever or infection.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience numbness, tingling, prickling, sensitivity to touch, or muscle weakness.

  • This medicine can harm an unborn baby. Do not use if you are pregnant unless absolutely necessary, after discussing the risks with your doctor.
  • This medicine may cause lasting fertility problems in men. Men should discuss this with their doctor before starting treatment.
  • Women who can become pregnant must use very effective birth control during treatment and for 7 months after the last dose.
  • Men with a partner who can become pregnant should not father a child during treatment. Men must use effective birth control during treatment and for 4 months after the last dose.
  • This medicine can cause tiredness and dizziness. Do not drive or use machines if you feel tired or dizzy.
