How to Use

Dosage

The doctor will decide your dose based on your body surface area; the usual dose is 1.23 mg/m², but it can be adjusted based on blood tests or other factors.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a vein by a healthcare professional, and it takes 2–5 minutes.

Important

The medicine is usually given on day 1 and day 8 of a 21-day treatment cycle, and your doctor will decide how many cycles you need.

  • Reduced white or red blood cells
  • Fatigue or weakness
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea
  • Numbness, tingling or prickling sensation

RARE

  • Increased tear production, conjunctivitis (redness and soreness of the eye surface), nosebleeds
  • Dehydration, dry mouth, cold sores, oral thrush, indigestion, heartburn, stomach ache or bloating
  • Soft tissue swelling, general pain (especially chest, back, and bone pain), muscle cramps or muscle weakness
  • Mouth, respiratory, and urinary tract infections, painful urination
  • Tender or runny nose, flu-like symptoms, sore throat
  • Abnormal liver function tests, changes in blood levels (sugar, bilirubin, phosphate, potassium, magnesium, calcium)
  • Difficulty sleeping, depression, altered taste
  • Rash, itching, nail problems, dry or red skin
  • Excessive sweating (including night sweats)
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Blood clots in the lungs
  • Shingles
  • Skin swelling and numbness in hands and feet
  • Blood clots
  • Abnormal liver function tests (liver toxicity)
  • Kidney failure, blood or protein in urine
  • Widespread lung inflammation, which may lead to scarring
  • Pancreatitis
  • Mouth sores
  • Severe blood clotting disorder, leading to widespread blood clots and internal bleeding

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to eribulin mesylate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding, as this medicine may harm your baby.
  • This medicine can cause serious harm to an unborn baby and should not be used during pregnancy unless your doctor says it is absolutely necessary.
  • This medicine may cause lasting fertility problems in men. Discuss this with your doctor before starting treatment.
  • Women who can get pregnant must use effective birth control during treatment and for 3 months after.

  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel tired or dizzy, as this medicine may affect your ability to do so safely.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you get a fever with a rapid heartbeat, shallow breathing, pale skin, or confusion – these could be signs of a severe infection (sepsis) which can be life-threatening.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you have difficulty breathing or swelling of your face, mouth, or throat – these could be signs of a severe allergic reaction.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you develop severe blistering rashes on your skin, in your mouth, or around your eyes – these can be signs of rare but life-threatening skin conditions.
