How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will start with a small dose and increase it gradually as needed.

Method

Take the capsule in the morning before breakfast, whole with water, or open it and sprinkle the contents into a small amount of applesauce, then drink liquid.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 60 mg.

  • Cough, sore throat, or irritation of the nose and throat
  • High blood pressure, fast heart rate (tachycardia)
  • Dizziness, uncontrolled movements, unusual activity
  • Aggressiveness, agitation, anxiety, depression, irritability, and abnormal behavior
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)
RARE
  • Suicidal thoughts or feelings
  • Seeing, feeling, or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations, psychosis symptoms)
  • Uncontrolled speech and movements (Tourette's syndrome)
  • Allergic symptoms like rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or other body parts, shortness of breath, wheezing, or difficulty breathing
  • Unusual agitation, hyperactivity, and disinhibition (mania)
  • Heart attack
  • Seizures (convulsions/epileptic seizures)
  • Peeling skin or bluish-red spots
  • Uncontrolled muscle spasms affecting eyes, head, neck, body, and nervous system (due to temporary cerebral circulatory disorders)
  • Paralysis or movement, vision, or speech disorders (signs of cerebral circulatory disorders)
  • Decrease or increase in blood cell counts (red, white, platelets), increasing risk of infections, bleeding, and bruising
  • Sudden fever, very high blood pressure, and severe convulsions (neuroleptic malignant syndrome)
  • Recurrent unwanted thoughts
  • Unexplained fainting, chest pain, or shortness of breath (signs of heart problems)
  • Constipation
  • Breast discomfort
  • Blood in urine
  • Tremors or shaking
  • Double vision or blurred vision
  • Muscle pain or muscle twitching
  • Increased liver enzyme levels (detected in blood tests)
  • Anger, restlessness or crying, excessive awareness of surroundings, sleep disorders
  • Changes in sexual desire
  • Feeling confused
  • Dilated pupils, vision disorders
  • Breast enlargement in men
  • Excessive sweating, skin redness, raised red rash
  • Sudden death
  • Muscle cramps
  • Small red spots on the skin
  • Inflammation or blockage of brain arteries
  • Liver disorders, including liver failure and coma
  • Changes in test results, including liver function tests and blood tests
  • Suicide attempts, completed suicide, abnormal thoughts, lack of feelings or emotions, repetitive actions, obsessive focus on one thing
  • Numbness, tingling, and color changes (white to blue to red) in fingers and toes when cold (Raynaud's phenomenon)
  • Migraine
  • Excessive talkativeness
  • Very high fever
  • Slow, fast, or irregular heartbeats
  • Nosebleed
  • Severe seizures (grand mal seizures)
  • Belief in unreal things, confusion
  • Severe stomach pain, often with nausea and vomiting
  • Prolonged and sometimes painful erections, or increased number of erections, inability to get or maintain an erection
  • Cerebrovascular problems (stroke, inflammation or blockage of brain arteries)
  • Bruise
  • Inability to control urination (urinary incontinence)
  • Jaw muscle spasm making it difficult to open the mouth (lockjaw)
  • Stuttering

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to methylphenidate or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had heart problems, high blood pressure, or problems with blood vessels in the brain.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are taking or have taken MAO inhibitors (a type of antidepressant) in the last 14 days.
  • Tell your doctor if you have mental health problems such as psychosis, schizophrenia, or severe depression.
  • Boys and young men may experience prolonged and painful erections; contact a doctor immediately if an erection lasts more than 2 hours.
