How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your individual dose.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water. If you have trouble swallowing, you can open the capsule and mix the contents with a tablespoon of applesauce. Do not crush or chew the contents.

Important

Always follow your doctor's instructions; do not take more than prescribed or for a longer period.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Swelling in the face
  • Low potassium levels in the blood
  • Behavior changes, such as nervousness, sleeplessness, mood swings, and depression
  • Abnormally fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Digestive problems
  • Rash
  • Muscle cramps
  • Menstrual problems
RARE
  • Tremors, involuntary movements, extreme restlessness possibly with muscle cramps or twitching, anxiety
  • Aggressiveness
  • Blurred vision, cloudy eye lens (including the back of the lens), or glaucoma (high pressure in the eye)
  • Skin discoloration due to bleeding under the skin
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Slowed growth in children
  • Allergic reactions causing swelling in the face area, especially eyelids, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Entocort if you are allergic to budesonide or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor about all your health problems, especially if you have or have had tuberculosis, recent infections, diabetes, liver disease, osteoporosis, stomach ulcers, high blood pressure, or eye problems.
  • Avoid contact with people who have chickenpox or measles, and tell your doctor if you get an infection.
  • Contact your doctor if your symptoms get worse, or if you experience blurred vision or other vision problems.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit while taking this medicine.

  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using Entocort.
  • Do not stop taking Entocort suddenly without your doctor's advice, as the dose may need to be lowered slowly.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C
