How to Use

Dosage

For adults, use the content of one pre-mixed rectal suspension bottle.

Method

Before use, dissolve the tablet in the liquid until it becomes a yellowish suspension. The suspension should be used immediately by giving it into the rectum in the evening.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one 2 mg rectal suspension, preferably held overnight.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea, diarrhea, stomach gas
  • Hives, skin rash
  • Depression
RARE
  • Agitation, sleeplessness
  • Involuntary movements or extreme restlessness, possibly with muscle spasms or twitching, anxiety
  • Signs of systemic corticosteroid effects, including adrenal gland problems
  • Aggressiveness
  • Blurred vision, clouding of the eye lens (cataracts), high eye pressure (glaucoma)
  • Skin discoloration due to bleeding under the skin
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Allergic reactions that cause swelling in the face, especially eyelids, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema)

Important Warnings

  • Talk to your doctor if you have or have had bacterial, fungal, or viral infections, or liver disease.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other vision problems.
  • If you switch from other cortisone tablets to Entocort, or stop Entocort treatment, you might temporarily experience symptoms like rash, runny nose, muscle pain, headache, tiredness, or nausea. If this happens, contact your doctor.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C
