How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is 0.5 mg or 1 mg once a day.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth. You can usually take it with or without food. However, if you have severe liver disease or if a previous treatment with lamivudine didn't work, take it on an empty stomach (at least 2 hours after a meal and 2 hours before the next meal).

Important

Do not take more than your doctor prescribed, typically 0.5 mg or 1 mg once a day.

RARE

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to entecavir or any other ingredients in it.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose might need to be changed.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor, as stopping suddenly can worsen your hepatitis B.
  • If you also have HIV, tell your doctor. This medicine should not be used for hepatitis B if you are not also taking HIV medicines, as it can make future HIV treatment less effective. Entecavir Stada does not treat HIV.
  • This medicine does not stop hepatitis B from spreading to others through sex or body fluids. Use protection to prevent spreading the virus.

  • This medicine can sometimes cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis (too much lactic acid in the blood) and liver enlargement. Symptoms include feeling sick, throwing up, and stomach pain. Your doctor will check for this.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness, tiredness, and sleepiness, which may affect your ability to drive or use machines safely.
