Important Warnings

  • Do not give this vaccine if your child is allergic to the active substance, any other ingredient, or residues from manufacturing (such as formaldehyde, chlortetracycline, gentamicin, neomycin, egg, or chicken protein).
  • Do not give this vaccine if your child has an acute illness that needs treatment. The vaccine can be given at least 2 weeks after recovery.
  • Do not give this vaccine if your child has previously had side effects after getting Encepur children. The same vaccine should not be given again until the cause of the side effects has been found.
  • Like all shots, proper medical care must be ready for rare allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) after the vaccine is given.
  • The doctor or nurse will make sure the vaccine is not given into a blood vessel. If it accidentally goes into a blood vessel, it can cause side effects, and in the worst case, shock.

  • This TBE vaccine does not protect against other illnesses spread by ticks (e.g., Lyme disease/borreliosis), even if they happen at the same time as TBE.
  • Fever (over 38 °C) is common after the first dose and less common after the second; think about giving medicine to lower fever if needed.
  • Children with weak immune systems (e.g., from HIV or medicines that suppress the immune system) may not get enough protection from the Encepur children vaccine.
  • The needle shield has latex. Talk to your doctor or nurse before your child gets this vaccine if your child is allergic to latex.
  • This vaccine contains small amounts of formaldehyde, chlortetracycline, gentamicin, neomycin, and may contain egg and chicken protein residues. Tell your doctor if your child has had an allergic reaction to any of these.
