How to Use

Dosage

30 mg of the medicine is given as a single dose under the skin approximately every six months (168–180 days).

Method

The medicine is given as an injection under the skin. Do not inject into a vein or artery, as this can cause blood clots.

Important

This medicine is given every six months, not daily. It is important to follow the correct dosing interval of 6 months to prevent worsening prostate cancer symptoms.

RARE
  • Anemia, decreased platelets, weight changes
  • Loss of appetite, increased blood triglycerides, cholesterol, sugar, potassium, or uric acid
  • Headache, dizziness, tingling sensations
  • Deafness, ringing in ears
  • Abnormal EKG findings, enlarged heart, facial flushing
  • Nausea, vomiting, increased bilirubin and liver enzyme levels in blood
  • Skin inflammation, increased hair growth on head, rash, itching
  • Joint, bone, shoulder, lower back, or limb pain
  • Frequent urination, blood in urine, increased blood urea levels
  • Breast enlargement, uncomfortable feeling in pelvic floor, difficulty walking, swelling
  • Feeling of pressure in chest, stiffness, general discomfort, tiredness, fever
  • Injection site symptoms (pain, hardening, redness)
  • Hypersensitivity, hives, wheezing, chills, severe allergic reaction
  • Blood clot, lung blood clot, diarrhea
  • Abscess at injection site
  • Bleeding or tissue death in the pituitary gland (pituitary apoplexy)
  • Metabolic syndrome (high blood pressure, unhealthy fat levels in blood, insulin resistance), fatty liver, epileptic seizures
  • Vision problems, heart palpitations, EKG changes (prolonged QT interval), lung inflammation, lung disease
  • Osteoporosis (including spinal fracture), decreased bone density
  • Increased pressure inside the skull (idiopathic intracranial hypertension)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to leuprorelin acetate or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have urinary tract blockage, spinal cord injury, diabetes, a higher risk of metabolic, heart, or blood vessel diseases, or a history of epilepsy or liver problems.
  • If you have a heart condition, including an irregular heartbeat, or are taking medicines for it, your doctor needs to know, as this medicine can increase the risk of heart rhythm problems.
  • You may have an increased risk of osteoporosis (thinning bones) and bone fractures.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe or persistent headaches, vision problems, or ringing in your ears.

  • Depression, which can be severe, has been reported. Tell your doctor if you feel depressed while using this medicine.
  • Stop using this medicine and seek immediate medical help if you develop serious skin reactions like red patches, peeling skin, or blisters, which may be preceded by flu-like symptoms.
