Enalapril comp ratiopharm lowers high blood pressure in two ways: by blocking substances that raise blood pressure and by removing excess water and salt from the body.

How to Use

Dosage

1 tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet with liquid, either on an empty stomach or with a meal.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 1 tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, cough, weakness
  • Headache, fatigue, chest pain, fainting
  • Changes in heartbeat or irregular heartbeats, low blood pressure (especially when standing up), causing dizziness or weakness
  • Diarrhea, changes in taste, abdominal pain, rash, muscle spasms
  • Changes in blood potassium levels, increased creatinine and fat levels in blood, high uric acid in blood
  • Depression, difficulty breathing
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema), and general widespread allergic reactions (anaphylaxis).
  • Swelling in the intestines (intestinal angioedema), causing abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.
  • Severe skin reactions, such as blistering, peeling skin (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome), or a lupus-like rash.
  • Blood disorders, including anemia (causing paleness, weakness, shortness of breath), changes in blood cell counts, or autoimmune diseases.
  • Liver problems (e.g., inflammation, jaundice, liver failure) or inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) causing severe abdominal pain.
  • Kidney problems, such as inflammation, decreased urine production, or protein in the urine.
  • Heart attack or stroke (mainly in patients with very low blood pressure).
  • Eye problems including blurred vision or eye pain due to high eye pressure (glaucoma), or fluid accumulation in the eye.
  • Confusion, drowsiness, insomnia, nervousness, tingling or numbness, abnormal dreams, mood changes.
  • Impotence, gout, inflammation of salivary glands, high blood sugar, skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma type), Raynaud's syndrome (cold-induced finger/toe changes), ringing in the ears, hair loss, excessive sweating, joint pain, facial flushing, blood vessel inflammation.

Important Warnings

  • If you are allergic to enalapril, hydrochlorothiazide, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • If you or a close relative have previously experienced severe swelling (angioedema) of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • If you are taking or have recently taken a medicine that contains sacubitril and valsartan.
  • If you are more than 3 months pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
  • If you have severe kidney or liver disease.

  • If you are unable to urinate (urinary retention).
  • If you have diabetes or kidney disease and are taking a blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.
  • If you have had skin cancer or develop new skin changes during treatment. Protect your skin from the sun.
  • If you experience blurred vision or eye pain. Seek medical attention if these symptoms occur.
  • If you develop severe shortness of breath or breathing difficulties after taking this medicine, seek immediate medical attention.
  • If you develop a dry cough during treatment, contact your doctor.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
