How to Use

Dosage

Typically, one tablet once a day. If needed, the dose can be increased to two tablets once a day.

Method

Take the tablet with water, with or without food.

Important

Two tablets once daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness, weakness, or feeling unwell
  • Nausea
  • Blurred vision
  • Cough
  • Low blood pressure, fainting, changes in heart rhythm, rapid heartbeats, chest pain or angina
  • Headache
  • Taste changes
  • Shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea or stomach pain
  • Skin rash
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Allergic reactions, such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which may cause difficulty breathing and/or swallowing
  • High or low blood potassium, high cholesterol, triglycerides, uric acid, or creatinine levels (seen in blood tests)
  • Muscle cramps
RARE
  • Sudden drop in blood pressure
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
  • Heart attack or stroke (possibly due to very low blood pressure in certain high-risk patients, including those with heart or brain circulatory problems)
  • Anemia
  • Confusion, insomnia or drowsiness, nervousness, tingling or numbness of the skin, vertigo
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Runny nose, sore throat, hoarseness, asthma
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Vomiting, indigestion, constipation, flatulence, loss of appetite
  • Irritated stomach, dry mouth, stomach ulcer
  • Impaired kidney function, kidney failure
  • Joint pain (arthralgia)
  • Increased sweating, itching or hives, hair loss
  • Redness
  • General feeling of being unwell
  • Fever
  • Impotence
  • High protein levels in urine (detected by urine test)
  • Gout
  • Decreased libido
  • Low blood sugar or blood sodium or magnesium levels, high blood urea levels (detected by blood test)
  • Raynaud's phenomenon (hands and feet become very cold and white due to reduced blood flow)
  • Changes in blood values (reduced white and red blood cells, low hemoglobin, decreased platelets)
  • Bone marrow depression
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Strange dreams and sleep difficulties
  • Lung problems (infiltrates, nasal inflammation, pneumonia, breathing difficulties including pneumonitis and pulmonary edema)
  • Inflammation of cheeks, gums, tongue, lips, throat
  • Mouth sores
  • Decreased urine output
  • Severe skin reactions like erythema multiforme or Stevens-Johnson syndrome (redness, peeling, blisters, or skin detachment)
  • Liver problems (impaired function, hepatitis, jaundice, high liver enzymes or bilirubin)
  • Non-bacterial kidney inflammation (interstitial nephritis)
  • Enlarged breasts in men
  • High blood sugar
  • Muscle weakness (possibly due to low blood potassium)
  • Swelling of the intestinal wall (intestinal angioedema)
  • High blood calcium
  • Acute respiratory distress (severe shortness of breath, fever, weakness, and confusion)
  • Overproduction of antidiuretic hormone (fluid retention, weakness, fatigue, or confusion)
  • Symptom complex including fever, blood vessel inflammation, muscle pain, joint pain, rash, photosensitivity, or other skin reactions
  • Skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma skin cancer)
  • Impaired vision or eye pain due to high pressure (possible sign of fluid accumulation in the eye)

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and contact a doctor immediately if you experience swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which may cause difficulty breathing and/or swallowing.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact a doctor immediately if you experience swelling of the hands, feet, or ankles.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact a doctor immediately if you develop red, itchy raised bumps on the skin (hives).
  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to enalapril maleate, other ACE inhibitors, hydrochlorothiazide, other sulfonamides, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, especially if you are more than 3 months pregnant.

  • Do not take this medicine if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a blood pressure medicine containing aliskiren.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are taking or have recently taken a combination medicine with sacubitril and valsartan for heart failure, as it increases the risk of serious swelling.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you previously had breathing difficulties or lung problems after taking hydrochlorothiazide and they recur after taking Enalapril Comp Orion.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or eye pain. These can be symptoms of fluid build-up in the eye or increased eye pressure, which can lead to permanent vision loss if not treated.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
