How to Use

Dosage

One tablet a day.

Method

Take with food, if possible. If you have trouble swallowing, you can crush the tablet and mix it with about 100 ml (half a glass) of water, orange juice, or grape juice, then drink it immediately.

Important

Do not exceed one tablet per day unless your doctor tells you to.

  • Stomach pain (due to liver or pancreas inflammation)
  • Kidney inflammation
  • Frequent urination
  • Feeling thirsty
  • Kidney failure
  • Damage to kidney cells
  • Softening of bones (leading to bone pain and sometimes fractures)
  • Back pain due to kidney problems

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to emtricitabine, tenofovir, tenofovir disoproxil, or any other ingredients.
  • You must be HIV-negative before starting this medicine to reduce the risk of HIV infection. Your doctor will test you to confirm this.
  • Taking this medicine alone may not prevent HIV infection. Always practice safe sex, including using condoms, to prevent contact with semen, vaginal fluids, or blood.
  • Do not breastfeed while taking this medicine as its active ingredients pass into breast milk. HIV-positive mothers should not breastfeed to avoid passing HIV to their baby.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness. If you feel dizzy, do not drive or use tools or machines.

  • This medicine can affect your kidneys. Your doctor will check your kidney function with blood tests before and during treatment. Tell your doctor if you have had kidney problems before.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have osteoporosis, a history of bone fractures, or other bone-related issues.
  • Know your Hepatitis B virus (HBV) status before starting this medicine. If you have HBV, stopping this medicine without talking to your doctor can lead to serious liver problems, even if you don't have HIV.
