Empressin helps manage the body's fluid balance and is used to treat very low blood pressure during severe shock when other medicines haven't worked.
Empressin is given as a continuous drip into a vein. It starts at a rate of 0.01 IU per minute, and the doctor may slowly increase it every 15-20 minutes up to 0.03 IU per minute.
A doctor or nurse will give you Empressin directly into a vein. It must be mixed with a saline solution first.
Doses higher than 0.03 IU per minute are only for emergencies, as they can cause serious problems like damage to your gut or skin, or even heart problems.
