Emerade is an autoinjector containing adrenaline, used for the emergency treatment of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) by raising blood pressure and making breathing easier.

How to Use

Dosage

The dose is determined by your doctor, typically 150 to 500 micrograms depending on your weight. For children weighing 15-30 kg, the usual dose is 150 micrograms. For adults and children over 30 kg, the usual dose is 300 to 500 micrograms.

Method

Inject into the outer thigh at the first signs of a severe allergic reaction. Press firmly until you hear a click, hold for 5 seconds, then gently massage the injection area. You can inject through clothing. Never inject into the buttocks.

Important

If symptoms do not improve or worsen within 5-15 minutes after the first injection, a second injection may be needed. Always carry two Emerade pens.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Heart problems such as irregular or fast heartbeat, chest pain.
  • High blood pressure, narrowing of blood vessels.
  • Sweating.
  • Nausea, vomiting.
  • Breathing difficulties.
  • Headache, dizziness.
  • Weakness, trembling.
  • Anxiety, hallucinations.
  • Fainting.
  • Changes in blood test results, such as increased blood sugar, decreased potassium, and increased acidity.

Important Warnings

  • Accidental injection into hands or feet can reduce blood flow. Seek immediate medical attention if this happens.
  • Always seek medical help immediately after using Emerade, even if you feel better. The reaction might return later. Take your used pen with you to the hospital.
  • Call emergency services (e.g., 112) immediately and state "anaphylaxis".
  • Lie down with your feet elevated while waiting for an ambulance. If you have trouble breathing in this position, you can sit up. If you are unconscious, you should be placed in the recovery position.
