How to Use

Dosage

Treatment starts with a low dose (e.g., 1.25 mg once daily) and is slowly increased by your doctor over several weeks up to a maintenance dose (e.g., 10 mg once daily).

Method

Take the tablet whole with water in the morning, with or without food. Do not crush or chew. Tablets can be divided into two equal halves.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 10 mg of bisoprolol.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Tiredness, weakness, dizziness, headache
  • Coldness or numbness in hands or feet
  • Low blood pressure
  • Digestive problems such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
  • Slow heart rate
RARE
  • Sleep problems
  • Depression
  • Dizziness when standing up
  • Breathing problems in patients with asthma or chronic lung disease
  • Muscle weakness, muscle cramps
  • Worsening of heart failure
  • Hearing problems
  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Reduced tear flow (dry eyes)
  • Liver inflammation, which can cause yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes
  • Abnormal blood test results for liver function or fat levels
  • Allergic reactions (like itching, redness, rash)
  • Erection problems
  • Nightmares, hallucinations
  • Fainting
  • Slow or irregular heartbeat
  • Eye irritation and redness (conjunctivitis)
  • Hair loss
  • Appearance or worsening of scaly skin rash (psoriasis); psoriasis-like rash

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Emconcor CHF if you are allergic to bisoprolol or any other ingredient in the tablets.
  • Do not take if you have severe asthma or serious lung disease. If you have chronic lung disease or mild asthma and develop new breathing difficulties (like coughing, wheezing) while taking this medicine, tell your doctor immediately.
  • Do not take if you have acute heart failure, worsening heart failure that needs IV drugs to strengthen the heart, very slow heartbeat, very low blood pressure, certain heart conditions causing very slow or irregular heartbeats, or cardiogenic shock.
  • Do not take if you have severe circulation problems in your arms or legs (like Raynaud's syndrome) that cause tingling or make your fingers and toes turn white or blue.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, strict fasting, certain heart rhythm problems, kidney or liver problems, less severe circulation problems, history of psoriasis, a rare adrenal gland tumor (phaeochromocytoma), or thyroid disorders. Also tell your doctor if you plan to have allergy treatment or surgery with anesthesia.

  • Emconcor CHF may harm your baby during pregnancy. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to be. Breastfeeding is not recommended.
  • This medicine can affect your ability to drive or use machines. Be extra careful when starting treatment, when your dose is increased or changed, and if you drink alcohol.
  • Never stop taking Emconcor CHF without your doctor's advice, as your condition could worsen significantly.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider interactions , especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
