How to Use

Dosage

Start with a low dose of 1.25 mg once daily, and your doctor will slowly increase it up to a usual dose of 10 mg once daily.

Method

Take the tablet with water in the morning, with or without food. Do not chew or crush it. If your tablet has a line, you can break it into two equal halves.

Important

The most you should take in one day is 10 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Slow heartbeat
  • Worsening of heart failure
  • Feeling tired, weak, dizzy, or having a headache
  • Feeling cold or numb in your hands or feet
  • Low blood pressure
  • Stomach problems like feeling sick, throwing up, diarrhea, or constipation
RARE
  • Very slow or uneven heartbeat
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Feeling down or sad (depression)
  • Dizziness when you stand up
  • Trouble breathing if you have asthma or chronic lung disease
  • Weak muscles or muscle cramps
  • Hearing problems
  • Allergy-like runny nose (allergic rhinitis)
  • Less tear production
  • Liver inflammation which can cause yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes
  • Abnormal blood test results for liver function or fat levels
  • Allergic skin reactions like itching, redness, or rash
  • Trouble getting or keeping an erection
  • Bad dreams (nightmares) or seeing/hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations)
  • Fainting spells
  • Eye irritation and redness (pink eye)
  • Hair loss
  • New or worsening scaly skin rash (psoriasis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to bisoprolol or any other ingredient.
  • Do not take if you have severe asthma or serious chronic lung disease.
  • Do not take if you have severe blood circulation problems in your arms or legs (like Raynaud's disease).
  • Do not take if you have an untreated rare tumor in your adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma).
  • Do not take if your blood has too much acid (metabolic acidosis).

  • Do not take if you have acute heart failure, worsening heart failure that needs strong medicines through a vein, a very slow or irregular heartbeat, very low blood pressure, or severe heart shock.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes or are on a strict fast.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, or less severe blood circulation problems in your limbs.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of scaly skin rash (psoriasis), an adrenal gland tumor, or a thyroid problem.
  • Tell your doctor if you are planning allergy desensitization treatment or surgery with anesthesia.
  • If you have chronic lung disease or asthma and get new breathing problems, cough, or wheezing after exercise, tell your doctor right away.
  • This medicine is not for children or teenagers.
  • This medicine can harm your baby during pregnancy, and it is not recommended if you are breastfeeding.
  • Be careful when driving or using machines, especially when you first start taking the medicine, change your dose, or drink alcohol, as it may affect your ability.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider interactions , especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
