How to Use
Dosage
Start with a low dose, usually 1.25 mg once daily, and your doctor will slowly increase it up to a maintenance dose of 10 mg once daily.
Method
Take the tablet with some water in the morning, with or without food. Do not chew or crush the tablet. Scored tablets can be divided into two equal halves.
Important
The maximum recommended daily dose is 10 mg bisoprolol.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Fatigue, weakness, dizziness, headache
- •Cold or numb hands and feet
- •Low blood pressure
- •Stomach problems like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
- •Slow heart rate
RARE
- •Sleep problems
- •Depression
- •Dizziness when standing up
- •Breathing difficulties in people with asthma or chronic lung disease
- •Muscle weakness, muscle cramps
- •Worsening heart failure
- •Slow or irregular heart rate
- •Hearing problems
- •Allergic rhinitis (runny nose due to allergy)
- •Reduced tear flow
- •Liver inflammation (may cause yellowing of skin or eyes)
- •Abnormal blood test results for liver function or fat levels
- •Allergic skin reactions (itching, redness, rash)
- •Erectile dysfunction
- •Nightmares, hallucinations
- •Fainting
- •Eye irritation and redness (conjunctivitis)
- •Hair loss
- •Worsening or new psoriasis-like rash
Important Warnings
- Do not take if you are allergic to bisoprolol or any other ingredients.
- Do not take if you have severe asthma or serious circulation problems in your limbs.
- Do not take if you have acute heart failure, very slow heartbeat, or very low blood pressure.
- Never stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor first.
