How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the exact dose, usually starting with 30 mg, but sometimes 20 mg.

Method

Take once daily in the morning, with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole with water, or open it and mix the contents into soft food (like yogurt) or a glass of water/orange juice. Eat or drink immediately and do not store.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 70 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Decreased appetite
  • Trouble sleeping (insomnia)
  • Dry mouth
  • Headache
  • Feeling nervous, anxious, irritable, or restless
  • Unusual tiredness
  • Dizziness
  • Mood swings
  • High blood pressure or fast/irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
  • Stomach ache, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation
  • Weight loss
  • Excessive sweating
  • Teeth grinding
  • Chest pain (could be a sign of heart problems)
  • Uncontrolled jerking movements or sounds (tics)
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Erection problems or changes in sex drive
RARE
  • Feeling unusually excited, overactive, or uninhibited (mania)
  • Allergic reaction (hypersensitivity)
  • Seeing, feeling, or hearing things that aren't real (hallucinations)
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) with a sudden drop in blood pressure, breathing difficulties, and hives
  • Psychotic episodes (paranoia, false beliefs)
  • Worsening of Tourette's syndrome
  • Seizures
  • Life-threatening irregular heartbeat
  • Allergic liver damage (may cause yellowing of eyes/skin)
  • Swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, or severe skin rash (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Shortness of breath or swollen legs (signs of heart muscle disease)
  • Unusual talkativeness
  • Feeling depressed, anxious, down, or uneasy (dysphoria)
  • Unusual feeling of well-being or excitement (euphoria)
  • Compulsive skin picking
  • Uncontrolled body jerking or twitching
  • Unusual sleepiness
  • Itching, rash, or red itchy welts (hives)
  • Blurred vision
  • High body temperature (fever)
  • Vomiting
  • Metallic taste or taste disturbance
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleed
  • Excessively dilated pupils
  • Aggression
  • Poor circulation in fingers and toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to lisdexamfetamine or other similar medicines.
  • Do not take if you are using or have recently used (within 14 days) certain medicines for depression called MAO inhibitors.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, or a family history of heart issues, as this medicine can worsen them.
  • This medicine can be misused and lead to dependence. Tell your doctor if you have ever had problems with alcohol or drug abuse.
  • Tell your doctor if you have any mental health problems, such as mood swings, seeing or hearing things that aren't there, or feeling overly anxious or aggressive, as this medicine can affect them.

  • This medicine can make you feel dizzy or blur your vision, making it unsafe to drive or use machines.
