How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the correct dose. The usual starting dose is 30 mg, but some patients may start with 20 mg. Your doctor may adjust your dose if needed.

Method

Take this medicine once daily in the morning, with or without food. You can swallow the capsule whole with water, or open it and mix the contents with soft food like yogurt, water, or orange juice. Consume the mixture immediately.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 70 mg.

  • Headache
  • Feeling agitated, tense, anxious, or irritable
  • Unusual tiredness or restlessness
  • Trouble getting or keeping an erection or changes in sex drive

  • Uncontrolled twitches, tremors, shaking, or unusual activity
  • Difficult-to-control, repeated twitches in any body part or repeating sounds/words (tics)
  • Mood swings
  • High blood pressure, fast or irregular heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Nausea or diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Weight loss
  • Excessive sweating
  • Abdominal pain
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)
RARE
  • Allergic reaction (hypersensitivity)
  • Unusual talkativeness
  • Feeling depressed, anxious, sad, or restless (dysphoria)
  • Unusual feeling of well-being or enthusiasm (euphoria)
  • Compulsive skin picking
  • Uncontrolled body jerking or twitching
  • Unusual sleepiness
  • Itching, rash, or red, itchy raised rash (hives)
  • Blurred vision
  • High body temperature (fever)
  • Vomiting
  • Metallic taste or taste disturbance
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleed
  • Excessively dilated pupils
  • Allergic liver inflammation (yellow skin/eyes)
  • Poor circulation causing numbness and paleness in fingers and toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)
  • Aggression

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it or its ingredients.
  • Do not take if you are currently using or have used an MAOI (a type of antidepressant) in the last two weeks.
  • Do not take if you have severe heart problems, very high blood pressure, glaucoma (high eye pressure), or severe thyroid problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of drug misuse or serious mental health issues like psychosis or bipolar disorder.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have chest pain, an irregular heartbeat, seizures, or signs of a severe allergic reaction (like swelling of the face or trouble breathing).
