How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your daily dose, usually starting with 20 mg or 30 mg.

Method

Take the capsule whole with water, or open it and mix the contents with water, orange juice, or soft food (e.g., yogurt). Take it in the morning before breakfast, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 70 mg.

  • Jerky movements or tics
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat

  • Weight loss
  • Increased sweating
  • Grinding teeth
RARE
  • Fever
  • Unusual talkativeness
  • Feeling very happy or excited (mania)
  • Compulsive skin picking
  • Unusual sleepiness
  • Rash or itching
  • Blurred vision
  • Metallic taste
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleed
  • Aggression
  • Poor circulation in fingers and toes, causing numbness and paleness (Raynaud's phenomenon)
  • Seeing or hearing things that are not real (hallucinations)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Elvanse if you are allergic to lisdexamfetamine or any other ingredient.
  • Do not take Elvanse if you are taking or have taken certain antidepressants (MAOIs) in the last two weeks.
  • Do not take Elvanse if you have serious heart problems, an irregular heartbeat, very high blood pressure, or a history of stroke.
  • Do not take Elvanse if you have an overactive thyroid or high eye pressure (glaucoma).
  • Do not take Elvanse if you feel unusually excited, overactive, or uninhibited (mania-like symptoms).

  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of drug or alcohol abuse. This medicine can be habit-forming.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding. Elvanse is usually not recommended.
