How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 30 mg, but your doctor might start you on 20 mg and may increase it later.

Method

Take Elvanse in the morning before breakfast, with or without food. You can swallow the capsule whole with water, or open it and mix the contents into soft food like yogurt, water, or orange juice. Drink/eat the mixture right away.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 70 mg.

  • Feeling agitated, tense, anxious, sad, irritated, or having mood swings
  • Feeling tired or restless
  • Problems with erections or changes in sex drive

  • Uncontrolled jerking, twitching, shaking, trembling, or unusual activity
  • Repeated tics (movements or sounds) that are hard to control
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat
  • High blood pressure
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Feeling sick, throwing up, or diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Weight loss
  • Sweating a lot
  • Stomach pain
  • Grinding teeth
RARE
  • Fever
  • Talking a lot more than usual
  • Feeling sad, worried, down, or unusually happy or excited
  • Obsessive skin picking
  • Unusual sleepiness
  • Itching, rash, or red, itchy bumps (hives)
  • Blurred vision
  • Metallic taste in mouth or changes in taste
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleed
  • Very large pupils
  • Aggression
  • Poor blood circulation, causing numb and pale fingers and toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Elvanse if you are allergic to it or similar medicines.
  • Do not take Elvanse if you are taking or have recently taken certain medicines for depression (MAOIs) within the last 14 days.
  • Tell your doctor if you have any heart problems, like a heart attack, irregular heartbeat, or chest pain.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure or narrowed blood vessels.
  • Tell your doctor if you have thyroid problems or high eye pressure (glaucoma).
