How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you your daily dose, which usually starts at 30 mg (can start at 20 mg) and may be increased later.

Method

Take the capsule whole with water, or open it and mix the contents with soft food, water, or juice, then consume immediately. Take in the morning before breakfast, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 70 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Decreased appetite
  • Insomnia (trouble sleeping)
  • Dry mouth
  • Headache
  • Feeling agitated, nervous, anxious, depressed, irritable, or having mood swings
  • Tiredness or restlessness
  • Erectile difficulties or changes in sex drive
  • Dizziness
  • Uncontrolled jerking, twitching, shaking, trembling, or unusual activity
  • Uncontrolled, repeated jerking of body parts or repeating sounds or words (tics)
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • High blood pressure
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Weight loss
  • Excessive sweating
  • Stomach ache
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)
  • Chest pain (may be a sign of heart problems)
RARE
  • Fever
  • Unusual talkativeness
  • Feeling down, anxious, sad, or uneasy (dysphoria)
  • Feeling unusually happy or excited (euphoria) or unusually excited, overactive, or uninhibited (mania)
  • Compulsive skin picking
  • Uncontrolled body jerks or twitches
  • Unusual drowsiness
  • Itching, rash, or red, itchy raised rash (hives)
  • Blurred vision
  • Metallic taste or taste changes (dysgeusia)
  • Fainting
  • Nosebleed
  • Severe allergic reaction with sudden drop in blood pressure, difficulty breathing, and hives/itching (anaphylactic reaction)
  • Seeing, feeling, or hearing things that are not real, paranoia, and false beliefs (psychotic episodes)
  • Worsening of Tourette's syndrome, including uncontrollable body jerks or repeating sounds/words (tics)
  • Seizures (convulsions)
  • Abnormal heart rhythm, life-threatening irregular heartbeat (seen on ECG)
  • Allergic liver damage, which may appear as yellowing of the eyes and/or skin (eosinophilic hepatitis)
  • Skin swelling (angioedema) or severe rash with widespread blisters on skin and mucous membranes (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Shortness of breath or swollen legs (signs of heart muscle disease)
  • Very wide pupils
  • Aggression
  • Poor blood circulation that causes numb and pale fingers and toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)

Important Warnings

  • You are allergic to lisdexamfetamine, other amphetamines, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • You are taking or have taken a medicine called a 'monoamine oxidase inhibitor' (MAOI) for depression in the last two weeks.
  • You have thyroid problems.
  • You have had or currently have heart problems, very high blood pressure, irregular heartbeats, or a stroke.
  • You have glaucoma (high pressure in your eye).

  • You have a history of misusing medicines, alcohol, or illegal drugs.
  • You have kidney problems.
  • You have had seizures (fits) or epilepsy.
  • You have uncontrolled twitches, or repeat sounds or words (tics), which can be part of Tourette's syndrome.
  • You have severe mental health problems, such as bipolar disorder, psychosis (seeing or hearing things that are not real), severe anxiety, or aggression.
  • You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or could become pregnant.
